I bought a Jeep toy for my grandson from All Things Jeep. It's made in Germany, and is a good quality toy for $16. Oddly, it has CJ4 characteristics such asflat fenders but a tapered hood...

I wonder where they got the drawings to build this model :?

It also has a hood that opens, and functional rack-and-pinion steering... ;)

They are real common in NZ
They where produced by mahindra as a long wheel base 3B between 76-96
it as all the same running gear as the 3B the only difference I could tell from the pics Ive seen is the steering

The last pic is a cj4m(military)
The cj4 that is found in New Zealand is a Mahindra cj4, not technically a Jeep.

Not technically? Howso? It was manufactured under license from Willys. Willys and Kaiser licensed all sorts of manufacturers around the world to build Jeeps. Not like it was a competing brand like the Toyota FJs or something like that.

Licensing a Product and changing the name to make a hybrid aren't quite the same as Jeep having a cj4 and then not building it. Not meaning that the Mahindra wasn't a jeep but the Mahindra cj4 was never designed by Jeep nor was it a prototype designed by Jeep. The Mahindra was simply a licensed copy of a cj3B with alterations that need not be licensed (I would suspect) and Mahindra called it a cj4.

F-head and a t90. You have to realize the Jeep cj4 was never put into production they only built a few prototypes.

 You say potato I say potato. I think it's a Jeep. Heck, I have a poster with the Jeep lineage on it hanging above my desk, the CJ-4 appears on it, so does the Hotchkiss though. ;)

Saw CJ4 on ebay a few years back. It was rough. Only thing left was the drive train, the fenders, hood, windshield and I think one seat frame. I may have found the link on these forums. I dont remember. Sold for about 7600.

There are at least two cj4's known to still be around, the long wheelbase one that showed up on ebay, and the red one of the cj3b page.

But it wasn't the same as "our" CJ4 prototype, was it?
