Two CJ2As spotted

First off..Jeep NEWBIE here. I was rolling in my 76 CJ7 after hunting and behind a business that scraps metal and sells junkers were two CJ2As. Now I had to open the hoods to confer that...newbie remember

Looks like they sat on a farm forever...no windshields, both have motors...one is in the backend. Wheels and undercarriage is there, the hoods are split down the middle??? One has smashed gauges, the other has a differernt dash-could one be military?...I can take pics maybe tomorrow.

I took interest because of the age of these models....even rusty and trashy, IF I wanted to own them what would I offer?

I have a polebarn to eventually become a Jeeper...am I crazy to get the Willys' or am I lucky to have found them?

I have a few snowmobiles so maybe a barter...I know the owner quite well but did not call him on Turkey day.

 

If you have the room I say bring them home. Only thing keeping me from having a jeep graveyard at my house is the fact that I live on Base.

Yes the hoods do have a seam down the center of them to answer that question. How bad a shape are they in rust wise? That will be the big determining factor. Even if they are in decent shape Id still only offer a couple hundred bucks. Yes they are getting hard to find but they still do exist and can be found if your willing to drive a little.

Gray may be military as it has the canvas seats and a hatch under the front passenger seats. Pics are coing as I am on dial-up.

He told me I could have them for $500 for the pair...

 

$500 a pair? Why are you not picking them up right now.

 

The reason I came here and took pictures is because, frankly, they look pretty sad and I have NO idea on value or what these really are. I still have my 76 to fix up but I just might have some Jeep fever...time to clean the polebarn out. Anyone collect snowmobiles? The forum audience here is a place to start. I also know where a guy has like 5 Jeeps in a barn...not sure if they are CJ2A's or 3s. I might get these and see what he says. He collects but never seems to restore them.

New Mexico probably doesn't see vehicles in that sad of a salt-rusted shape.

So what are they and what are the negatives and positives...the frames LOOK solid and both chassis roll. Can I part out like the GRAY to fix the WW or should I rob parts to fix one...is the GRAY a military model and if so, what one?

WW is a 2A as it has the tag on firewall

I have dibs on them just gathering info...why does the GRAY have a hinged cover under the seat? The dashes are different too.

 

WW has a "Supersonic" head on it also. That is a neat find. Go for it. I have seen worse here in the south go for more sometimes.

 

Wow, those look pretty sad, but I personally would buy 'em if I were able. Building a runner out of those two would be a monumental task, but you could surely make some money by parting them out on Ebay, if you wanted to. Or even resell them intact to someone else.

The white-walled one is a CJ2A, I am basing this on the frame horns on the front end, the dashboard set-up and the original 2A style horn button. You can confirm this also by measuring the distance between the wooden hood blocks and the center seam on the hood. If one of the hood blocks is closer to the center seam than the other, it is a CJ2A hood. They were off like that to keep the wipers from hitting when the windshield was down.

The gray one looks like a WW2 army Jeep. It's kind of hard to tell which model since there is so much paint over everything and a lot of mods to the frame and rear end. Possibly a MB? One of the Military guys here should be able to help. If it has Ford F-script on any of its' parts, it's worth way more than 500 bucks by itself!

500 for the pair is a good deal in my opinion. You could part one out and make your money back on Ebay!

Okay, scratch the "military" on the gray one. w3srl is right! It's an early CJ2A. The small holes on the right side of the dash were for the 3 metal shift & instruction plates on the early 2A's. The inset running lights on the front are also early CJ2A, similar to the late MB's. Looks like you have an early and a late CJ2A. Check inside the left frame horn on white wall for a serial #. They were there as well as on the firewall.

Per the Supersonic in "Gray"...226: After the merger of Kaiser-Frazer and Willys-Overland, the 226 cid, 115 hp flathead Kaiser Supersonic/Continental Red Seal engine was named the "Super-Hurricane 6" and was made available to all Aero Willys in 1954...so this is a later motor swapped in I take it?
