Looks like the shift pattern in a old Mack truck with a quadraplex transmission

It is really easy to get hooked on these interesting threads, I have stayed up most of the night lots of times reading them all the way thru. I guess it is just one more of the symptoms of ''jeep'' addiction.

Finally got my stickers from the printer. I was too cheap to pay for priority printing/shipping.

    They turned out great:

I stuck one of each on magnetic backing for installation in the Jeeps.

Here's a new one compared to an original sticker. The font is different but close and it's slightly taller. Overall, it's a pretty decent facsimile and looks like something Jeep might have made if there were factory equipped OD Jeeps:

Here it is compared to the what I could find on the web. I hated that the overdrive was separate and hence in the wrong place (and a different height!). The fonts are a mess and I don't like the addition of the white. That's why I went to all the trouble:

    One the '71. Before:

I needed to trim the new decal a little bit to clear the added turn indicator, choke, and knob blank. After:

    Much better!

And on the '68 with 3-spd, OD, single stick:

As for selling these, I've worked on a bunch of different iterations of transmissions and transfer cases. I've also centered the off center "transfer case". After seeing these in person, I want to thicken all the lines a little bit before printing more.

Once I get the art fixed up, I'll make a posting in the Member Market section to sell them. I think the cost will be around $20.00 each delivered. It costs me around $7.00 each in minimum quantities of 5. The extra covers my effort, duplicates of odd configs that won't sell, and shipping to the final recipient. I definitely won't be getting rich off it.

Completely custom ones in different colors or whatever would also be possible.

Well, I finally got a chance to do some real off-property 4-wheeling and I have to say I love the truck 4-spd. One of the best things I've done with this Jeep. One rocky hills like this one (that is easily twice as steep as the photo looks), it chugged right up at a nice slow speed that allowed you to pick your line:

This biggest complaint was the carb loading up when shut off hot, sitting for a while, and then restarted. The hand throttle was a great help because I could set the idle at 1300 for a few minutes so it wouldn't die until it cleared out. I already have an insulator under the carb. I'm going to lean it out two steps to see if it helps but it really means fuel injection has climbed higher up the priority list.

Last weeks Idaho Jeeping trip wasn't completely without mechanical failure.

This happened to the brake pedal pad:

Luckily I was able to get it off the trail.

    New pads installed:

Finally got around to fixing an annoyance on the '71.

When you're going up a steep hill and take your foot of the gas pedal, it does this. I can't bend my toes back enough to get my foot back on it unless I flip it forward with my hand:

It drives me crazy when it happens and then I usually forget about it until it happens again. Not this time!

I suspect a new pedal pedal from PartsDude4x4 would would fix the issue with the bottom flap that's long missing from mine:

But I'm too cheap to do that at the moment so I drilled a hole in my current pedal:

Wrapped some safety wire around a 3/8" drill bit that's a little bigger than the throttle rod:

Then attached it to the pedal with a small screw driver as a spacer to keep some slop:

    Tidied up:

    Installed:

It seems to work well. Doesn't bind the the throttle at all and the pedal not longer leaves the throttle rod:

Fixed until I finally buy the new pedal.

It would take me twice that long to find my tools. The pile on the bench is still taller than I am :banghead:

Your bench and mine must be hiding in the same place. Haven’t seen mine in couple weeks.
