I did check that weld and it looks fine. Just an illusion in the photograph.

Another short update. (Again all this was posted on "What did you do to your Jeep today?" thread.)

I have several hundred miles on the Holley Sniper now. I did have a blackout / dead system issue a few weeks back. It would loose power and shut down completely. Left me dead on the trail / road 4-5 times. It always restarted after several minutes of giggling wires and pushing on connections. I seemed to find the problem was with the factory installed inline fuse. One of the legs on the blade fuse was bent and not installed in the fuse holder properly. Since then It has worked perfectly. I love the fact that the 231 starts within a second or two of turning the key. no choking , no pumping the gas, Nothing but letting the fuel pump get up to pressure and start the engine. Vroom!!

As you may know, I have a RR YJ conversion spring kit on this Jeep. I use 2.5" lift, very soft springs (ProComp). Off-road these springs are great but on-road I had huge problem with body roll. I've had a later model CJ Sway bar sitting in the garage for about a year. No mounts or links so it was going to be a little bit of a project to get it installed. I got the correct 7/8" mounts on Amazon but when I held it all up there the mounts didn't line up with the frame unless they were pushed out into the the bends of the sway bar. I made a couple HD brackets to weld inside the frame rails and that seemed to be just right.

Sway bar links from Rough Country. I think this is the one.
    https://www.roughcountry.com/sway-bar-disconnects-1029.html

The holes on the swaybar ends are bigger than the bolts (metric) on the links. I found a metal shock bushing that I pounded into the swaybar ends. I cut off the excess and drilled it out a touch to get a good fit to the link bolts.

Very please with the difference it makes on the road.

Also a few weeks back I made a bracket to hang a radiator overflow tank.

This thing is getting really close to being done! :bananatool: (I cant believe I wrote that).

Colorado Epic week 2022 is done with little damage. I did hit the sliders hard on this obstacle and bent up the body side a little. Kyle did warn me to bolt them thru the floor.

The Holley Sniper works excellent and starts easy on steep up or down angles.

Did you guys try to go above to Cleveland Lake? The rock up there I used to go up the right side, but it's been years and I've heard it was closed for a while.

The fishing is real nice at the lake though :)

We turned around pretty quickly. I was a little worried about traffic coming up as it was a nice Saturday. We only saw 2jeeps on the way down.

2022 Winter project!! Fix front output shaft on D18 transfer case.

Noticed on the summer Colorado trip the front output had a bit too much wobble. Took the TC off today and stated taking it apart. As soon as I got the front cover off I noticed the front shaft was broken off into the rear shaft.

Without doing a total rebuild what are the main wear parts I should order?

There's one I haven't seen. Honestly rebuild kits aren't that much. At a minimum you need a new front output shaft, look the mainshaft over real well, need a new bushing in the main. Bearings. Til you do all that the only thing left is the intermediate.

I’ve just about got myself talked into doing it. I’m just dreading the needle bearing reassembly. The rest seems pretty straightforward.

X2, make a dummy shaft out of wooden dowel the length of the gear. Vaseline is your friend.

I used a piece of 1" conduit and sticky assembly lube. It was a little undersized but it worked fine:
