Band? I do keyboard and drums, LOL. Come up and see what I've done to the Willys and there's plenty of good grease joints here.

James, if you need to borrow a inspection plate as an example, I can take the one off my Jeep to lend you as a pattern. I’m not that far from you, down here in Stockton.
FYI… they are pretty thin that’s why they have bead rolls in them to add some rigidity.

    Thanks (y)

Several years ago 'Dne offered to trace hers on paper and send it to me but I never asked her to go through the trouble. I am making mine out of aluminum that is thicker than the stock ones with the bead rolls, not sure if that's good or bad at this point. I almost have the trans back in the Jeep (those last 3-4 inches are brutal) and I'll see if I can make mine work. If not maybe I'll hit you up or you can trace it for me.

If you ever get up to Sac let us know, you can join us at Jeepsterjim's for lunch

Great news!!! My daughter is home from college for a few weeks. Bad news!!!! To get her wisdom teeth pulled. Today she helped me all day on the Jeep.

Here she is installing driver side exhaust which I hadn't put back on after the trans rebuild.

And she also installed my flywheel cover plate that I had made, which fit perfect the first time after the last bit of trimming and cutting.

With all of that done we filled the transmission/tcase with oil and rolled it out of the garage for the first time in 2+ years, maybe 3. I filled the carburetor bowls with gas as best I could and the Jeep fired right up but wouldn't pull fuel and would only run if I bottle fed it. So we took the carb off and cleaned every orifice we could find with carb cleaner. Jeep ran perfect, in fact we didn't feel the need to adjust anything.

Then we noticed an oil leak :(. Of course the Tcase was leaking. It was the cover that goes over the bull gear so we drained a bit of oil, pulled the cover and did a nice RTV job. Fixed.

With all that done it was time to wash it.

Wish I would have taken a lot more pictures but I was just enjoying working with my daughter and forgot about pics.

Hey James, would you happen to have any spare spare stock frame motor mounts for a V6?

So I took it for a drive yesterday and it's not great. It's not terrible but it's not great.

Before the trans rebuild it would grind going into third, now it goes into third perfect but won't go into 2nd unless double clutched. When I did the trans rebuild I couldn't tell a difference between the two synchros in the transmission and the two that came with the rebuild kit, all 4 looked identical through my aging eyesight. Does anybody know if an SM420 has two different synchros for 2nd/3rd or if they are identical?

The other annoyance is the trans shakes like a Cardashian when letting out the clutch, a little on take off but especially the 2nd to 3rd shift. I'm going to put the GoPro under the Jeep and drive it and see if I can figure out why so much shaking going on under there.

And I ordered mufflers, no more overly aggressive high decibel ear drum killer, I'm too old for all that racket.
    I ordered these:

Really hoping the overall length of 23" and 9.5" width will stuff under there somewhere

I'm planning on it. Maybe whatever is shaking and making bad noises will just break so I know what's actually wrong with it.

Check all your motor mounts for the clutch shudder.
