You'll definitely like the ball and socket connection better than the flange and gasket type. They tend to seal much better, and you don't have to deal with the collector gaskets blowing out. I usually run a thin bead of ultrared or ultracopper RTV around the flange where it mates with the ball, just to seal up any little imperfections (Something I picked up from Snowmobiles and Motorcycles).

I can almost guarantee you'll be happier with a clutched fan, than a flex fan. They're a hell of alot quieter, and *can* be more efficient. And I've never had a clutched fan eat itself at 6500 RPM and chuck a blade through the radiator =P Not saying it can't happen, I've just never had it happen to *me*. I can't say the same for flex fans.

Thanks for checking in on me;)
Sorry, been cleaning up, I've taken apart my speedometer and looking at parts for it. I was waiting to two guys which offered me their old hoods and I've contacted both, but never heard back. One guy actually has been here and I went to his house, but still never heard back from him. So, I've decided to go back to the hood that I have. If he brings up the hood, I'll still take it; just a little bummed by the lack of communication. I've texted, but not over doing it as I don't like bugging people.

I don't have a picture, but I had borrowed body dolly from a guy (Slater) across Houston which I had bought two front fenders and a grill from. I didn't use it, but I sanded it down and painted it~ just for the thanks. When I went to return it, my brother and I pulled up to his shop and it looked baron, but a side gate was open. I got out, went through the gate, walked up to the big garage doors, and it's like it was ransacked, no lights. At the top of the ceiling was black smoked insulation~ I found out the place caught fire. The fella there said that a '73 bronco had a weird ignition system and caught fire during the night. Slater the owner, his '71 Bronco was ok, but the place was a mess! A worker there said he was going to possibly find a new place, rent this place out~ who knows.

So, in the meantime, I had bought a new tailgate as my old one was just too rusted out. Here I am shooting the sublime, eventually followed by a clear coat. This was two days ago.

Now I've been sanding on my current hood, it's fiberglass but re-enforced and pretty nice I guess. So, I guess I'll get back to sanding on it;)

Wow, between my electric da and my air da, it took a while to get the old paint off. The underneath isn't too bad, it's not smooth, kind of fiberglassy looking. I've never sprayed fiberglass, but I'm guessing prep is about the same? I'll be taking care of the underneath first in a couple days, let that cure, then flip the hood and do topside. It will be the last large thing to paint~ still unsure of the hard top, but it can be addressed much later on if I decide to use it.

I've made some panels to go under the vents; waiting for some 3m epoxy to glue them into place.

Time to make dindin~ it was a super nice "summer" day;)

Dne' When I painted my 72 which has a glass body I was told the only thing special I needed to do was make sure I used a sealer on it. Something about fiberglass never really curing and always giving off a gas and that will cause issues with the paint cracking. Don't know if that is really the case but I haven't had any issues with mine and that was 15 years ago

Hi my fellow jeeper car enthusiast friends!
First I want to start off with the upgrade of a fan clutch to my '67 Mustang~! omg, what I difference! Took it for a drive today to get ice cream and it's ferocious sounding without the wind noise!!

Well, I feel like a heel, but the guy that had the hood that he was going to give me texted me on Sunday asking me if I still wanted the hood~ YES!! So Gary and I drove out to get it and it was good!
yes, it has some bumps, but got to play with unknown skills; I welded some tig rod onto the hood and was able to use various methods to yank, pull most of the dent out, at least better.

Then when I thought i had it under control, noticed the front was pushed in, so out with the portapower to push the front ridge of the hood out, combined with heat from my torch, it's much much better!

I should be able to get on this tomorrow and finish up the hood;) there's still "body" work to do here.

The not so finished underneath, I clear coated it later today.

Then got my Raptor decal for the area shown~ should be a fun looking ride!!;)

darn, time to make dinner already~! time is fleeting~ madness takes control, let's do the time warp!!

Well, let's see if I can explain this~ my Bronco won't be having the vents going through the cowl, they'll be blocked off. If I had left the vents open on the hood, water would go through the vents onto a cowl making a mess. So, I hope this helps prevent that. They do make a new hood without those vent things~ but for an additional 600 bucks, I'll just stick with this for now. My bronco, like all my projects, will never see rain and always washed by hand;)
Thank you Ron for the compliments;) :D

Hi Gang! I finished my hood yesterday and I'm really happy with the results;) So, I'm kind of finished with the large things to paint, just small things remain. So, I'll be putting away paint guns, paints, just need to clean shop!! Heading to our Chiropractor as I need repairs too! ;)

    Also installed the new glass!

I've decided to go with this Ginger colored upholstery~ I think will look much better with the interior.

Hi! I placed the body back on the frame, kind of a test fit. I don't have the transmission cooler lines and thought maybe I could install them later on, but wouldn't be the best idea. So, I put the entire shebang on the 4 post lift and incorporated my maxjax lift to remove the body as needed.

I found a stock air cleaner to maintain a little of originality. I'm looking at AC but looking seriously as a 12v electric compressor.

Here I can use my maxjax and my 4 post lift! great combination!!

The exhaust is just kind of hanging there, not installed yet.

So, that's it for now~ still lots to do!;)

Looks fantastic, but that's not a stock air cleaner. Which honestly is OK, the stock air cleaners are kind of garbage (From an airflow/performance perspective). I don't know that they'd get along with a 4-bbl setup in the first place. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the same aftermarket air cleaner I've got on my CJ =P

Hood clearance was a problem. A lot like 6 cyl Jeeps.
Oh yea, a Rocky reference. Man, I miss those midnight movies.

An Edelbrock on the 'stang? Interesting choice.
"Our" first car was a 65 GT fastback with all the goodies. It, strangely, came with an AFB somebody tossed on it as well. Wish we had that car today......

Oh, I'm aware of why they did it. And on a 75HP F-Head, or 120HP Ford Inline Six, it's not much of an issue. It becomes an issue when you've got a warmed up 302 like Dne does there. It'd certainly run with a stock air cleaner, but it's not going to be particularly happy about it.

But heck, it does really come down to how you're going to drive the thing, I suppose. If it's just a "going to town" rig, that's just going to be cruised, you'd probably never notice the difference in the first place.

Well, here's a problem I might have with the idea of running the stock bronco air cleaner. I had forgotten about the top of this Holley carburetor and it could very well interfere with the air cleaner fitting flush. The fella I was kind of maybe buying it from, well, he either didn't want to measure, or that's probably the reason, so for now, I've put the air cleaner on hold, at least until I can find out.
So, I received my transmission cooler lines and they are going to work(I hope), then installed the wiper motor assembly, but there's an aftermarket system which looks really nice, not gaudy like the stock system, but that can be installed anytime down the line.
I'm toying with the idea of bolting the tub down, it's just so easy to lift it off right now to do odds n ends! ;)
