My horn has never worked. The contact under the column was missing when my uncle broke it off in the 70's.

I just rigged up a door bell in that location to pass inspection.

I assume this things brass contact just wraps up over the bushing inset in the column? Or does it just mash up against it in a spring action? Anyone?

The original uses the springy option, a wiper as I recall. I recall a much shorter contact on mine, with a folded appearance. This part may be different, and need to wrap around to be made with what's available. Might work ok by wrapping around.

Ok, the original part only came from Jeep as part of the complete turn signal switch. In the parts book, it looks like what I remember, ie a short folded contact that pushes against the contact hub rather than wraps around it. Barney's may intend for this part to wrap around the contact hub rather than push against it. Clearly it's a 3D-printed part manufactured by someone as a replacement. Could ask the seller...

If you had the plastic part, you could make the contact with wiper material from something with a mechanical timer, like a a washing machine.

    Maybe it's more visible here:

Funny the last one I took apart had a long contact perhaps it was a previous repair.

Could be more than one type. That picture above is from the Barney's eBay ad, but it's the same as what's in the '74-80 factory parts book. The '74 PN for the turn signal switch is different from the '75, and I've only seen the '75 part. The '75 part supersedes the '74 part, so they must be functionally identical. The contact and plastic plate was never a service part on its own. Note that the original contact was held with a rivet, so anything else would indicate a repair to me.

I do not have a schematic for 1972. All I have are the line drawings of the harness from the '72 TSM. The '74 schematic will be basically the same as the '72 wiring - that's free to read and download from the Tom Collins site.

The Barney's ad for that part shows a picture they took from the parts book. That's the only drawing of the column that I know of.
