Hi, again;) The dash on this old Bronco is quite busy? all the knobs n such.

The dash as most you know has been out for some time, but this is what was;)

There is a fake overlay which is/was glued in place and a little bitchy to get off, but I did get it off. I'll be getting a new one.

Not sure if I want all holes, especially with aftermarket ac/heat

omg, what a mess of wires. There's a guy on the Bronco forum which overhauls the gauges for a reasonable price, I think, I like the factory gauges.

Just got in my passenger side door skin and window rails~ guess that's on for tomorrow (y)

The metal for the Dash looks to be in good shape. If you don't want all the holes. I say fill them in and then use the real estate to mount decent versions of the cheap gages that were bolted on.

Thank you John for chiming in, love a advice and opinions ;) I'd keep the ash tray, speaker hole, but the rest, I might just cut it all out and weld in new sheet metal~ still thinking, but not in a hurry~ ha;) I could probably sell the cut out to someone as a patch panel, but I'm still pondering~ ponder ponder ponder;)

On my '68, oh, it was horrible!~ I did the same and cut what I didn't like~ out!

and welded in new sheet metal~ and that's probably what i'll do;)

Hi Locky! ;) I only have one, I bought this '46 for a ridiculous price so I could make it match my Jurassic park jeep, in case I'd ever want to "haul" something~ which never has come to pass:( IT was sub-project~ IT was a fun project, now the trailer is just full of stuff!

The stock dash doesn't look that bad to me,

You have some extra clutter but most of them appear to be stock & somewhat necessary.

I never knew the speedo was left of the column.

Seems placed by a married person.

"How fast are you going anyway?"

Where does the time go!!

I didn't get started on this passenger door until later afternoon~ but I'd say it was pretty easy to remove the skin. I just used my 4.5" angle grinder with a cutting disc, removed a smidgeon of the edge and vwala! Then a few spot welds, the removed the window frame~ I bought one by accident so may as well replace it too.
The old skin may look repairable but alas is not. I test fitted the new skin and looks to fit nicely.

This I get to play with tomorrow, I really don't think it will pose a problem, it's just metal(someone told me that) and I've got a few toys to make the job doable.

Couldn't someone just have rolled up their windows! :madwife:

Anyway, ran out of steam and it started getting colder than I like, something in the east wind that goes right through me! I don't think tomorrow going to be any better :( But I really need this door completed so I can install the rockers(both sides).

I don't mind mechanical work and fabbing things but rust repair and body work like that makes me want to run and hide.

Believe me Fireball, it's not on my favorite thing to do by far, but it has to be done. Besides, it's a learning thing too;)

Not meaning to sound like a suck up, but I'm truly impressed with your metal skills.
I can do just about anything mechanical, but body work is really an art. An art that I've I tried and failed at miserably.

Well I got a little done today~ fabbing up that lower piece was a little trying, but I feel it came out ok. Just need to finish up welding it in, grinding, etc. I still have more to do inside the door which will take a few hours. but the skin fits good, little room for moving it around (not really), like what you see is what you get. When I get the innards done, I'll paint the inside with por15 and hopefully get it by.
    time to make dinner!

Your bodywork abilities (or at least your patience for bodywork) are infinitely better than mine are.

    Another quick reminder........
The main wiring loom runs along the bottom of the dash. I've seen dozens of Bronco's with "ghost" electrical issues due to screws being run up into the loom while mounting some gee-haw or doodad under the dash lip.

Moving along at a snails pace, I got a little more done.

Using cardboard to make templates works great.

One can actually cut along the cardboard using it as a guide for the plasma cutter and not burn the cardboard, ok, might singe it.

though it's not "pretty", it will do. However is solid.

On the new window frames, they come with threaded holes to bolt it to the newer doors. I was expecting just to weld it to the door. I found they did this so one can remove the window frames and with the glass down makes for a nice ride without a window frame. So I get to fill in some holes, or weld in new metal and try to mimic this~ great
