Looks like the bell housing may be different from the 4.192

I may be mistaken. Have you got that far yet? Pete

You're looking at an adapter plate bolted to the back of the block that fit the 203 to the 356 Loader. I removed the flywheel and adapter last night. I should probably look back through your engine pics and compare, but I think once the adapter plate is off, everything should be the same. I'll need to swap the oil pan and intake/exhaust manifolds from the jeep for sure. Not sure about the front cover yet. If I have to swap the front cover, I'll need to swap valve covers also as the oil fill for this motor is in the front cover and not the valve cover.

This is with the adapter removed. So, down to the bare back of the block. The only concern I have is the lack of a pilot bushing index in the back of the crank. I'm hoping, but not holding my breath, that maybe the pilot bushing indexes into the flywheel assy somehow... otherwise the crank will have to come out for machining I guess.

Different bleed off arrangement but realistically the same injector bodies and orientation near as I can tell.

AG pump and gear driven hydraulic pump-

Intake and lift pump side. Intakes are different, but mounting is the same.

Fuzzy pic, but you can tell the water pump housing and front cover are different. Oil fill is in the front and not the valve cover. The oil pan will need to be changed as well.

What are your plans for the hydraulic pump? If you're not using it you can just take the cover off the other engine.

Will you swap out that mechanical injector pump with the CAV from the 192?

Sounds like you have a busy weekend in store. Take lots of pics please!

All questions I don't have answers to yet. I'm contemplating using the hydraulic pump for a Saginaw power steering conversion... I'm not sure if I want to go down that rabbit hole yet, but it sure would make it nicer to drive. It looks like a cover swap would work to eliminate it if need be. I will probably have the 192 pump rebuilt before I swap it onto this motor. I don't know that I will do that before I get the motor in the jeep and running. I'd like to make sure this motor does run before I go too far. I have no reason to believe it won't, but.... you know. I don't know when I will actually get to this project, but I will take plenty of photos.

Did a little digging in the books, and it appears there's a high likelihood that transmission indexing happens in the flywheel assy, and not in the back of the motor. Crossing my fingers.

Ran into a massive snag with the 4.203 and can't believe I overlooked this. It has no bosses for the Jeep motor mounts on the side of the block. The front cover has the motor mounts from the wheel loader, but that needs to be changed out to use the Jeep oil pan.....Which has to happen for differential clearance. Having a tough time negotiating past this road block. I did however get the 192 to fire in the Jeep and it still has 40psi of oil pressure at idle, and realistically sounds just fine. It doesn't really want to fire easily on its own which leads me to believe the compression is low. So...Pulling the head again to see what's up I think is my next move. Then some comparison with the 4.203 head to see if it will work assuming it isn't cracked. I may run the existing one up to the machine shop and get a quote to fix it.

Bummer, I was looking forward to seeing it...

Could you make some kind of frame with rubber mounts...

Nothing to bolt to once I swap the front covers. I could probably get an experienced welder to weld mounts to the cast iron block if I absolutely had no other choice in the matter, But I'm not to that point yet.

    That is a blow. :n:

I built my oil pan for the f-head in the 3b out of 3/16 plate and built the motor mounts into it. Where there's a will, there's a way. You'll figure something out.

With all the Photobucket stuff happening, Can everyone still see my Photos? Seems like most of the threads with Photobucket links are all screwed up these days. I still see them, but they could be cached for me?

Ordered up another mustang radiator yesterday. I'll have to have the outlets modified again on this one too. I've resigned myself to the fact that the chances of finding a diesel specific radiator is next to nothing. I know what it's supposed to look like, and the closest thing I've found is the early V6 radiator but.... the outlets still aren't right and would not work without modification either. I figure it's easier to move the outlets on an aluminum rad than a copper/brass one. Engine gaskets are here sitting under my desk... I'll probably get going on this right about the time the weather really takes a crap... Wouldn't want to work on it during nice weather right? lol

Thanks for this information. I may need it in the future.
I saw you referenced in an ewillys post that was linked to a company Agri something in Europe that seals parts for the 4.192. I am trying to find gaskets and seals for mine. Did you happen to buy any 4.193 parts from them. They show a rebuild kit that I am interested in.

All the gaskets I've bought for this thing have come through Sheffield Tractor. Sorry it took so long to respond.
