I had them weld the perch on with my calculated pinion and perch angle, because one side has to ride on the ductile housing. It's a tight fit with the offset 60, but it works. And Inspector Henry gave it an A-plus.

Got the u-bolts and spring plates today from WFO. Love the quick shipping. Test fit, they work fine, the large one that rides on the housing is 4" ID, and a tight fit.
I decided to add a little length to the perches, to guard against axle wrap, although this will get an anti-wrap bar, it's easy to do now. I also drilled center bolt holes one inch forward, to give the rear end an inch stretch to the rear.
This really doesn't do it justice, but 35 spline will make a believer out of you.

I have been slacking a little bit due to jeeping season. Gotta enjoy it while we can, next thing you know, it will be snowing. Had time to test fit the 60 under the jeep. Perches, driveline angle, are all perfect. So Currie did follow what we agreed to. I still have welding to do on this housing, mainly anti-wrap brackets and shock mounts, so it might have to come back out. But I like the fit.
The pinion is tilted 7-1/2 degrees up. Here you can see the bulk of this thing, as well as the high input. A very nice unit.
Next, the anti-wrap bar material should arrive this week, shock mounts, brake lines.

Well, it's been Rubicon time, so other than gathering parts, and making plans, not much. I did get the anti-wrap parts and a new tubing notcher last week, and I don't have any trips for a few weeks, so it'll get going here soon. Also, between trips last week, I had to disassemble the front brakes and re-drill the backing plates because I have drum brake knuckles that don't clock the caliper correctly. Fun.
I marked the spot welds that hold on the dust shield, drilled them out to separate.
Next, used an old spindle for a template on the new pattern, which is only like 10 degrees off.
Set up in the drill press and drilled the new pattern.
The new position. Now the caliper fits. I won't make this mistake again.
And now the important stuff. We went in to set up our camp, hauled tents, chairs, beer, etc. in preparation for the Jamboree.
Camp is ready for our 10-plus jeeps and 15 tents, 20 people.

It is really fun running into Chico grads, on the trail, and everywhere. We have a lot of fun with that. Congrats to your daughter.

A little more Rubicon, since it is in the title of the thread, and what the heck, it's fun. We got out of Georgetown with our tickets around 10, Uncle Tom's at 11, locked in at Loon at 12. 10 friends rigs, all wheeling and Jamboree veterans. Our old timer was on his 35th Jambo. I'm at 29. Nick, about his 8th. A day ahead of the crowd, we have dreams of making it to the Springs, so we motor for a while. This is just before the bowl.
I had Nick drive after Uncle Tom's, so while I photo'd, he kept cruising down through the bowl.
Arnold's rock, about 6 pm. Yes we had some problems, a rear DS Ujoint on a friends jeep, then someone rolled in front of us.

After a break to catch up with the Buck Island repair crew, and having half our group decide to call it a night at Buck, we wheeled on, ready for a beautiful night run.
Arrived in camp about 10, dinner at 11. Very good foil pack shrimp, sausage and corn BTW, after a long day. Next morning we cleared some of the local wildlife out of our tent meadow.
The river was really inviting, so we floated, swam, drank, for pretty much the next 3 days.
Before the last night party kicks off, Nick boiled up his crawdad catch for happy hour.
Sunday, 5AM, up and out, up Cadillac by 10.

Started with getting the front brakes reassembled. Now the whole "drum brake knuckle debacle" is behind me. I hope this is the last time I'm doing this for a little while.
With an eye towards being able to fire the motor, and since Sam has a radiator for me, I spent a little time on the donor '70 grill. I had to undo some of its holiness. About 12 extra holes got filled.

Bead blasted, sanded, primed with some Summit epoxy primer
    [IMG]
Of course I had to set it up there to see what it looks like.

I totally agree on the rear being way overkill ahah. But it's realy a nice unit with the hight pignon set-up.

You should never had a problem with it, since i run a dana 44 full lock on 36" tsl with a V8 in front of it in the last 9 years and never had a broken axle.

We have decided to get away from the 60/40 tux seat in favor of some stock buckets I already have. What I don't have are the mounting brackets. Anyone have these laying around?

Spent the morning dealing with some frame cracks on the 3B. It is this jeep's 20th season, probably 50 Rubicons, Moab, Barrett Lake, Johnson Valley. Yeah, it has been rode hard, so I think this is expected. While I was welding, and catching my tshirt on fire, I started a mental schematic of my next project, a (possibly stretched) new frame for Woody. But...first, back to reality. The ram assist system on the tux. After a bunch of back and forth, find the center, find the travel, I settled on the tie rod mount for the ram.
Tacked, re-installed, checked travel. Burned the tabs on to the 1-1/4 DOM.
Final welded the WFO ram mount on to the 44 tube. Cleaned and painted.
Tie rod and drag link set to length, painted and ready for final install. Also the ram body got painted here. Tomorrow, this can all go in, and is part of getting it running, soon.

Back to the grille and radiator. This has had me scratching my head for a week or so. Once I got the (beautiful) '70 radiator from Sam, and set it in there, I realized this is not going to be simple. I actually gave up for a few days and tried to get the old grille and radiator to work, then reverted back to the wide set up once I accepted that this is going to be a lot of work, and if I go through a bunch of work, I want the wide one. First big problem is the tank hits the power steering shaft that goes through the crossmember. I removed the steering so I could at least set it in there.
Second problem is that I have 1-1/2" from pulley face to core. And the fan needs at least a 3/4" spacer to miss the lower pulley and probably the HEI. Best I can figure is this V6 is about an inch forward from stock, judging from the extra room between the firewall and valve cover.
For height, about here is where the cap misses the hood. Sam had said it could be higher, but his half cab Commando hood has more clearance, and if this radiator had the filler in the middle, where the 5 hood has a raised area, it could be higher.
So other than needing to move the steering gear, and possibly cut the grille, and the crossmember, I'm doing great. On the positive side, I really like the built in cocktail table, I am going to need it.

What p/n is the radiator? Is it a 3 core?

This doesn't seem right. I have the same radiator in mine mounted at the height of your last photo and it clears the hood fine:

I ended up raising it because it was interfering with the brake line on the crossframe. You can see where I drilled new holes to raise it about an inch:

Mine also needed those aluminum spacers because the brackets weren't welded on flush with the front like they are supposed to be. Hotrod stuff never seems to really be "bolt-in".

Your water pump is definitely closer to the radiator than stock. This is mine with a half inch spacer:
