I was planning on doing the motor mounts today, but Napa dropped the ball and only ordered one, so maybe tomorrow for mounts.
I got to looking at the water pump and crank pullies. The water pump only had one v-groove, and the crank had a v-groove and two serpintine shieves that stuck out 6" beyond where the radiator needs to sit.
I scrounged through my stock of old pullies and found a three groove pulley with the correct pilot bore. I chucked it in the lathe and trimmed off the first groove.
I cut up the bottom crank pulley till all I had was the v-groove and mating surface to the harmonic balancer. Then while it was still true in the lathe, I used a GM Saginaw steering pump pulley that was the same diameter, and held it in place with the (tail stock live center). It spun true, so I tack welded it in place and then cut the center out and finished the weld.
I've got quite the stock of cut up pulley scraps left over.
And now I can use a flex fan bolted right up to the water pump with out a spacer, and still run two bellts to drive the fan, with an alternator and P/S Pump on either side.

Napa finally got both Bronco motor mounts in so, I started by cutting a piece 1/4" x 3" strap to length and drilled three hole in it and then elongated two of them to make engine install easier.
I bolted the plates to the mounts and bolted both to the engine.
I then made paper patterns of the side supports to carry the weight to the frame rails.
Another pattern and I cut top piece of 3/16" plate to box them in.
And the engine is sitting in the frame
Driver side mount was a tight fit to the Block Hugger Headers. I even had to trim the corner off the Bronco motor Mount for clearance.
Now I can roll the frame out of the shop into the carport and check the body fit. Hopefully I got the floor supports and body mounting holes in the correct place.

Since I finished the motor mounts and the engine is bolted in, I cleaned up the shop floors and rolled the frame out to the car port to meet up with the body. I sat the body on wooden 2x's since I will be cutting body mounts out of a sheet of 1 1/2" dense rubber. It should give it about a 1" body lift. The engine/firewall clearance is okay, and the new body mounts in the floor supports even all lined up.

Next step is to fab up a new tunnel that just has a removable flat top, and the original upper curved sheet metal piece. With Saginaw steering, there is no reason to have half the floor come out to remove the old Ross steering box, column and wheel combined. Iv'e got it if anyone needs it.

All the parts of the center tunner were scrap metal and ended up in the bone yard. I built a new tunnel, all welded with a flat top. Since the 4 speed is a side Hurst shifter, the tunnel doesn'd need to be tall and domed for a top shift lever. I will use a Hurst/Mr Gasket style rubber boot and the later Dana 300 style twin stick boot. On a flat piece of Diamond Plate Aluminum.
The new under seat tool box works well and the stock passenger seat frame still fits.
With the side shift transmission my under driver seat gas tank no longer fits, but I was planning on using the 1971-83 15 gallon rear tank. The under seat tank is filthy and smells bad but still holds gas if anyone needs it.

Next step on the tub is to shoot another 100lbs of sand and more Red Rust Primer.

After finishing up the floors and tunnel, I raised the body off the frame. I've had adds on Craigslist for items I'm not planning on using and I got a call from a guy who needed my"Roller tires and wheels" he gave me $250.00 for them so now the frame is sitting on a furnature dolly and an engine pallet with wheels. I used a 20Ft chain and one of the over head hoist to pull it back into the shop.

I have been going round and round with what to do with the Wimpy Dana 25 Front and tapered axle 44 rear. I can't see spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to try and make them right. Dana 30 Narrow Disc front ends are $1000.00 or more depending on what you can find. I took the money I got for the tires and wheel and bought a complete doner car.
I picked up a 1998 Land Rover Disco 1 for $200.00 with a bad engine and 138,000 miles on it. Solid axle disc brakes front and rear, Ford 9" style Drop out 3rd members. High Pinion Front with closed knuckles and inclosed CV joints. Full Floater Rear axle. Same wheel bearing and seal kits front and rear. And the ability to add Freewheeling / Locking Warn style hubs up front. I have had the Disco 2 axles in my 1963 Willys Wagon since 2005 and have had no issues with them, but they have Unit Bearing front hubs, and flanged rear axles. The Disco 1 axles are 100MM narrower , and with 4" flares should look Just Right.

This build has just changed directions. With the coil spring front axles I will be able to push the axle at least 4" further forward. and use the factory Rover Crossover Steering. The rear suspension is a factory 3 link with a top wishbone that I will install with a new crossmember. And also move ther rear axle back a few inches. The build just got more interesting.

Yep they are a dime a dozen out here. All the "Snow Flakes" in the SF Bay area bought them to drive to the ski resorts twice a year. I had my choice ot 3 for under $250.00 with bad engines.

"The build just got more interesting."

It sure did. I'll be standing by to watch your suspension mods come together.

I was watching for one of them for over a year around here for a project, and even trashed ones were bringing $1500+.

There is 96 on Facebook market place in Bordertown Nv for $250.00 or $500.00 with new 265x70x16 MT tires. It's been rolled but the axles may be okay.

I just found a New in the Box Dorman 15 Gallon fuel tank on Facebook Marketplace for $50.00 when I got it home I realized it has the small 1" filler neck. Should I use it as is, or punch out the hole and solder in a larger neck?

If that is a new metal tank, you can MIG weld the new neck in. If you have access to a TIG welder that would be better.

Ok, for those of you who don't know I ruptured my right Achilles Tendon while loading the Rover on my trailer. I had surgery March 4th. I got the stiches out yesterday and a new Non-walking cast. I've had Cabin Fever so bad that I finally hobbled out to the Willy Wagon on crutches today and drove the 180 feet up to my shop. I found a roll around chair and went to work with 4 1/2" cut off wheels on my CJ5 frame.

:worry: damn hope you heal up! Glad you managed to get productive.
I did brakes one time with my left arm in a cast. Gave myself a black eye trying to get the springs on with a pair of pliers.
