Do any of the suppliers make a replacement soft top for a 1975 CJ5 that doesn’t need modification (uses the original hardware, including snaps). The ones I have found, like Bestop, require some modifications.

Check out these replacement jeep tops from 4WO. The Replace-a-Top uses your original hardware, but this soft top is a bit expensive.

One source says, ".... built for Willys by Koenig" Also, sent a PM regarding a Willys brochure of the hardtop as seen in this thread on page 10 & post #185.

Does anyone know who made this top? I belive the doors are Meyers. But, the roofline is different than the typical Meyers cab.

OK, so in 2021, this is what I think we have available new for soft tops:

    Bestop vinyl
    Bestop Supertop
    - Black crush - $1100 (shiny black vinyl - very 1960-1980's appropriate, IMO)
Black Crush Supertop Classic Soft Top | Bestop

Bestop Supertop - Black denim - $1100 (dull, greyish black fabric - looks very much like a YJ/TJ top, IMO)
Black Denim Supertop Classic Soft Top | Bestop

Bestop Supertop - Tan - $1100 (tan, matte fabric, seems to look like a tan denim?)
Supertop Classic Soft Top | Bestop

Bestop Tigertop - Black - $900-1000 - depending on website/company (attaches with snaps, doors are one-piece)
    Tigertop Soft Top | Bestop

    Canvas

    Weebee webbing/ODcloth.com
    1. Winter top + side curtains = $700ish (add $325 for door covers) price doesn't include bows/hardware
    M38/M38A1

    NewLifeCanvas -
    1. Summer top only - $400
    2. Winter top + Side curtains = $729 (same thing, doors or 1/2 door covers are extra) none of this includes bows/hardware.

    Classicjeeptops.com
    1. Full 6-piece enclosure - $1100 plus shipping
    Early CJ5 – classicjeeptops.com

    2. Summer top. No side curtains $400.00 (Sunbrella $500)
    3. Make it a 2-piece with roll-up rear panel - $600 (2 piece Sunbrella, $700)
    Summer Tops – classicjeeptops.com

    Surplus city jeep parts
    1. Winter top + side curtains - $615
Surplus City Jeep Parts - TOPS AND CUSHIONS

Has anyone dealt with the canvas companies recently? I talked to NewLife this week and a nice lady quoted 4-12 weeks. I talked to Jeff @ ClassicJeeptops about 2 weeks ago, and it was April/May before being able to start. Surplus city has great pricing, anyone familiar with their quality or lead times?

    Hardtops

Hard top for early and later CJ5's $2400-2600 - Without doors they're only $1400, though, so maybe DIY 1/2 doors would save some coin.

Here's my 65 with the tan Supertop. The fabric is close to a denim, but not exactly. The only real issue I've had so far is the velcro they use to wrap the door header pieces doesn't stay on well. I had a local boat shop add a couple of snaps, one at each end of the velcro, and that seems to work well.

These Kayline folding instructions came with my '69 when I bought it. I thought I should scan them and put them here for posterity. The top itself was long gone before I got the Jeep.

I have been looking for a Super Top (71 CJ5) and have been unable to find one. Bestop says out of stock until April/May 2021. The dealers I've checked with are out of stock. Whitco says to call Bestop as they will not have a top available until 2022.

In my experience in the MV hobby, New Life has a terrible reputation for slow work, lack of communication and blown deadlines, (self-imposed). Surplus City, just forget it. Cheap canvas, poor communication, and I believe outsourced labor that, in my case, was very poor. I have had good luck with Beachwood, having bought several MV canvas parts from them.

I checked my sources and it looks like the tan is available, but both of the black tops are out for a bit.
