Hi! yeah, I'm still around! lol Not much going on other than blasting parts and re-assembly of the 4.0 engine. Yes, I got the engine back on the same day as the sandblasted tub/frame and other parts.

The man at the engine place asked me if I'd like a job installing engines~ I've had three engines overhauled by them and they know me. I declined as I don't have any desire to work on new car stuff! ;) Jeeps are easy;)

The blasters ran out of both tan and gray primer and so they did it in white. Not that it matters~ I scuffed it all up and shot Eastwoods ceramic frame coating it came out really nice. The frame came out incredibly nice, but did have a few broken bolts to drill out, mainly the ones which bolt up the transmission crossmember.

The stock springs came from Quadratec~ however I'm using my old bolts as the new bolts were kind of geeky, still waiting on the larger pivot bolts which are larger 1/2" vs 7/16". I had to cut the pivot bolts out and used a 4.5" cut-off wheel to get the old springs off.

Today I blasted the differentials best I could, cleaned them and spray painted them with some rustoleum black. I should be able to re-install those tomorrow.

I have brake line material coming soon and should be able to knock that out making the brake lines, plus brake stuff is on the way too. The pre-made brake lines have not so good reviews, so make them myself;)

I was a little worried about placement of the springs and thought the heavier went on the front, but found that to be backwards. So, lesser springs on the front with heavier on the rear; almost doesn't make sense to me

I found a place called Deadjeep.com which carries a vast variety of used parts and they have a bunch of gas tanks at reasonable prices, so I may go that route.
Underneath my old gas tank is an "insulator" of sorts as pictured #3 in the illustration below. Mine cleaned up and I may use it, but I can't find that anywhere.

I'm making good time~ and just slowing down a little due to a re-current back problem which haunts me now and then. but using brains over brawn I do ok. Not much that I have to pick up as I use my cranes as needed; if too heavy, I get Gary to help me;)
We have a cool front coming so garage work should be much more enjoyable! (y)I'm looking forward to paint n body work :D

HI! I've since moved the Jurassic build to the "clean" air conditioned area. Engine/trans/driveshafts/brake lines, are installed. This is just falling together!
I plan to paint the valve cover either Krinkle red and high gloss red and the intake, maybe just an aluminum color.
I have the new exhaust coming and new exhaust hedder. I overhauled the brake calipers and they turned out nice, just waiting on the hardware kit.

I was looking at buying another distributor, but this thing is dirt simple so I took apart, cleaned it and re-assembled.

Rather than buy the pre-bent brake lines, I think it's better for me to just make them.

As for the '68, or "Sissy" (named after my mom), I'm hoping to tow it to a local muffler shop tomorrow;)

I get parts in the mail and install them immediately;) I bought a stainless steel header from ebay, but it didn't work and sent it back. I bought a used factory exhaust manifold from a place called Deadjeep.com for about 70 with f/s. I media blasted it then sprayed with Eastwoods exhaust coating. The exhaust itself was from an Ebay seller, made in the USA it says, so that's great and it fits perfectly. just waiting for an exhaust donut.
Not shown but the gas tank is in place, and it's taking really good shape.

Tomorrow I may get to the valve cover, I think I'll spray it with Krinkle red for the "pop" when the hood is opened;)

Still up in the air about adding AC, it however can be added later on as it's just an under the dash unit Independent of the stock heater system.

Need to get outside; it's too nice to be indoors~! ;)

Let me see~ I went ahead an really cleaned the intake manifold and sprayed it with an Eastwood product, then the valve cover, I used the Krinkle paint and it came our really nice. None of it is totally installed, waiting on new bolts for the Intake and a better valve cover gasket vs the cork type. As most of you know, I want my engine to be a spectacular as possible;)

the gas lines which attach to the intake injector lines are very rusty and I really have no idea of what to do with those beside taking a wire wheel an cleaning them as best possible. They're no where to be found, new that is:( The throttle body I took apart, soaked in carburetor cleaner overnight and still required a light media blasting to get it looking nice again. Still need to order some injectors~ undecided on what to buy.
I'm having fun with it and it's pretty easy to work on. I put the wiring harnesses, one at a time on a table and recovered them in new insulating covering so at least they look new;)

Yes, still alive n well;) It's slow around here due to holidays, but I'm managing to make some headway.

The engine is pretty much done, injectors in, engine wiring harness, etc.

The tub I've been working on off n on~ it's pretty wavy and I finally got it ok.

Wrapped up today with coating in more high build primer and tomorrow I'll keep fine tuning it. I'll be leaving the interior and underneath alone as it has one hell of a coating on it and don't want to waste my new expensive paint; it's a single stage Sand beige, not ppg, but the higher dollar brand. I'll be lining the interior with dynamat or something similar. I haven't bought the red yet cause, but wish I had. I'm thinking to go ahead and paint the wheels vs powder coating.

    guess that's it for today;)

Orange jeep, green jeep, dinosaur jeep....now you need a FC jeep. I'd love to see you get your hands one one and make it pretty.

Hi ECJ5'ers! Finally got to painting done over the past couple days. It's a single stage paint of which I don't like very much. I'd like better a 2 stage, but the Sand beige isn't offered in a 2 stage:(
I have some rear fender well liners coming, stock which will hide the unpainted rear well.

I didn't use the rotisserie for the hood this time. I just painted it and flipped it over today to paint the top.

Made a bunch of progress today!;) I got my brother and my husband Gary to help me put the tub in place, then the roll bar, then front windshield frame. The red won't be for a week or so~ the jurassic number will be #18;)

Hi guys! ;) Sorry I haven't been very active on here lately, holidays take a toll on any progress of anything in the garage:(

However, today, I'm happy to report that the 4.0 runs! :bananatool::beer: however kind of runs not too great. The pressure regulator started leaking, so I ordered one of those, then the idle was up and down, slightly rough, so I ordered a new idle air control valve. I hope that corrects that. I'm getting pretty good at stabbing distributors and running on the first try :sneak: ;) I got the engine up to operating temp, then that was enough for the day.

Our oldest daughter gave me the "When the dinosaurs ruled the Earth" sign, then Gary got me one too! (oops)

Soon I get to start cleaning this up and painting it gray (cinder gray), but could not find cinder gray, so I'll just keep buying paint until it looks close. I had bought new lens for the speedo and cluster gauges; the speedo ones are correct, but the cluster gauge lens was incorrect:(
    [IMG]

THESE ARE NOT MY SEATS below! I wish they were as these are the correct seats and they are incredibly difficult to find. All they have to do is advertise as Jurassic seats and the price goes up, but that's only if one can find them.

So, I bought a used passenger seat with the correct form and going to attempt my version of re-upholstery; should be interesting:whistle:

I still need to put the red on, but no hurry, but I bought the stencil kit and should be pretty "easy".

Ok, need to see what's on the TV:D

Hey dne, are those the same as "sahara" seats? Might give you a few more bites, not sure.

Yes, the Sahara seats. I can't tell you how much time I've spent googling them, and I'll keep looking just the same, but I'll try to sew something up;)

Funny thing, we were up in Columbia Falls over the summer, and I saw one just like this at a gas station. According to the ad, this one hasn’t moved in a while, so there must be two of them up there!

Very impressive, fantastic work; it needs patience, until the last moment.
And, as usual, when all seems ready, there is some new problem coming.
It takes time, but at the end, it is happiness.
    Be ready!

What are the odds! Those are kind of cool! on a build forum for Jurassic jeeps, there's a guy that fabricates/makes the bubble window for the roof. I'm not sure I'd ever want to do the explorer, but never know. I hear that the ford explorer of that year was a pretty good vehicle;) Thank you for thinking about me;) Guess I need to post some pics! moving rather slowly:(

Hi y'all! I'm making slow but steady progress;) I got the engine running last week and was able to move it to my "clean" garage(heat/AC room). The engine ran "ok", it was rev up and down at idle, then there was a fuel leak at the fuel pressure regulator. I have since replaced the fuel pressure regulator and idle air speed control sensor(on the throttle body). But haven't tried cranking it yet.

so, I got busy on the dash, bought new lens for all the gauges, the painted the dash with a Graphite colored SEM which is a perfect match! what are the odds! I had to remove the steering column to re-replace the dimmer switch-wiper, the Chinese one brake immediately. It's a pain to replace on the tilt column, but I'm fair at working on the darned column.

This is when I first got the jeep and the dash is in pretty bad shape cosmetically.

It's actually pretty easy to work on, removal n all. and parts are available on ebay;)

Here re-installed after painting, new cluster lens, etc. The radio doesn't work, but are available, but it's so easy to replace, I'll do that later on.

With the floor insulated, it's kind of slippery slidey, here I was fighting with the heater control cables, time for a pic;)

I have my stencil kit to do that, but not ready to put them on, still have red to do and wheels to paint red. There's quite a bit left to do, but it's going just fine;)
