    I’ve been painting today.

    First, black primer...

    Then the blue...

I’ll have all the color finished in about an hour. Clear is tomorrow.

I never would have guessed that black would work as the primer.

The paint guy checked the ingredients of the color I chose and recommended black. Since there wasn’t a high percentage of opaque ingredients in the color, he was worried that a light primer would be tough to cover.

As a side benefit, any runs I got in the black were easily sanded out because the light gray primer under it was like a depth gauge.

I finished the blue. I only had two runs; one under the tailgate latch on each side from trying to cover all angles of the latches at once. I knew better, but got impatient. I sanded them out, reshot them, and got runs again. They’re staying.
The chains will cover them anyway.

I feel like I accidentally made a show vehicle. It turned out really nice. The only drips or runs that I’ve found so far are in spots that will be hidden.

you are going to have to do some sacrificial damage as soon as you get it together so you can get the first scratch out of the way. Maybe drive it into the garage door since you are good at fixing those. :D
