Thank you Tim, I've been looking at Classic Enterprises replacement parts, but I'll make a decision later today when I've either cut it all out or not.

Jeepsterjim~ an overlay? hmm, but you're right about it being well blasted~ thinking here ;)

Classic Enterprises Panel are really good quality. I used them for my floor replacement.

Gee Scott, that looks incredible! (y)
See this little crushed looking "pedestal? it is suppose to be "square"? and maybe a have a little rubber thing on it?

I know I could buy new flooring n such, just have to do to what I can to save some money :rofl:

This is the passenger side floor just above the rotted channel.

Welded in new 18 gauge from below(look nicer on the other side)

inside the cab, can see the spot weld affixing the new channel that I made.

Not shown, but cut a piece of treated wood to go back inside the channel. Painted before installing, then obviously afterwards here.

That's enough for today~ need to spend some time with Gary, these old cars and the shop can keep me busy, but Gary doesn't share the same interest other than funding me and my habits

Just FYI - Classic Ent is the body panel parts I used in my build. Should be getting back on next week now that I'm healed from my surgeries.

Chuck, I'm happy to hear your getting back to the fun stuff!!!!

Anyway, I'm familiar with Classic Ent~ they custom made this panel for my brothers '62~ seems like I bought something else but don't remember. I like to at least give a try in fabricating; even if I'm not very good at it~
tomorrow, I need to go purchase some 18 gauge sheet metal, just hope the place has it in stock. 18 gauge is pretty cool stuff and welds much better I feel.

Oh, on another note, I have a Northern Tools 135 amp mig, I thought I would try some flux core .30 wire, I don't like it AT ALL ( I did change the wiring, but didn't seem to make a difference~ can't beat gas mig)! I may put the .24 wire back on it and bite the bullet and buy another C25 bottle~ it'd be nice to have another C25 bottle on hand just in case. Nothing like running out of gas on the weekend:(

That's what I did, but it wasn't a replacement, just corner guards.

This link might help you with how I bent the steel.

Thanks to Buildflycrash for the link on how to make holes disappear! ;)

No coat hangars, but Tig rod worked very well, just getting the object to the size hole necessary was a little taxing~ not really;)

Then tacked them all into place~
    [IMG]

and a bunch of grinding and all it well, onto the next hole/s:D

Hi Brad, I did use copper pipe for smaller holes, just that the holes on the 'quarter panel' had wood behind two of them, and the other two, well, I could have perhaps. What's the largest hole to be welded up by copper, or brass?

I did buy this and it works great for wherever it can be used. The magnets are super strong.

as large as you want to fill i would say.If you go slowly the heat is not the trouble, porosity is. its hard to get a good weld on air. I have repaired some really cheesy stuff sometimes filling way too large of a gap with the mig.slow and steady wins the race.

Got busy on the Tool box flooring~ I replaced most of it, the rest I can do something with to make it pleasing to the eye.

Using my 4.5" cut-off wheel I cut this out
    [IMG]

Carboard being my friend, I made a template
    [IMG]

Using my plasma cutter, I cut new 18 gauge to fit, even the magnet thing helped offer a handle.

Welded it place and ground down some of the welds
    [IMG]

I did cut a little bit of the old floor out so the new metal would at least be level with the old. I have some All metal bondo, I may slather a few layers to make it look nicer.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out, if I had to do it over again, I would have done something differently, but I'm ready to move on!!! ;)

Are you going to put the tool box drain hole back in?

Thank you for reminding me Scott, I would have forgotten to put the drain hole
Well Tim~ I think, going by the picture showing the "purple line", I could have expanded the new sheet metal more than I did , that's all~ the most fun I had with this was using my plasma cutter :bananatool:, it just amazes me to slice through the 18 gauge, clean cut, no distortion :D

That looks great dne! I'm super excited to try out my new hypertherm plasma cutter that I picked up last night. My body is MUCH WORSE than yours is though, so I have my work cut out for me

I've had my Multi-plasma cutter (stick, Tig, plasma) for several years, it's a cheapy chinese made my Everlast. I've never really used it, especially after it was under water from Harvey for a while, darned thing still works, just had to buy some consumables. But I started playing with it, and Wow! (shouldn't brag) I've never had much luck with the Tig, but did use it on several of the holes on the jeep and it did the job, but never have used the stick portion of it. So, that said, I'm excited for you!!:bananatool:

Sam came through with the breather and grommet! ;) Now I guess I have a reason to restore the air cleaner;)

Also, I've decided to go Pertronix on my old distributor (put new parts inside it) instead of the large HEI. Just need some spark plug wires~
heading to the swimming pool~ darn it's been really HOT!

What does this part of the air cleaner go to?

Spark plug wires: theres a thread that popped up a few days ago that linked to rockauto closeouts. Spark plug wire sets were just over 2 bucks!

That would have went to air pump /emission equipment, if the engine was equipped with it.
