So I finally closed the deal and yesterday I brought home this early CJ5. I notice there are many additions from PO but in general she is in very decent shape and complete. I am not planning to do a frame off restoration now but work on some details to keep her running.

I am working on a list of things I must remove ASAP as well as a list of missing parts. I welcome your thoughts and comments. I am new to CJ5 but quite familiar with CJ3B model.

Venting Windshield...score! (Wiper motors, not so much.:D)

    60/40 seat is cool.

If those rear seat cushions are any kind of OEM, they are special.

There was a good deal on NOS air cleaner hoses on ebay this last week. (The repros are worthless junk. )

The throttle return spring should be on the other side of the engine, BTW.

What is with the frame welds? Spliced in a new half-frame???

Hi Pete thanks for your input, I really need your feedback so I can focus efforts.

I love the venting windshield. Just need to get the left star washer and thumbscrew.
I have one Trico SF634 vacuum motor that will fit fine.

Are front seats factory correct? Springs can be seen on passenger seat. Not sure about the upholstery. More pics on the link.
I guess the rear seats were added by PO but my kids might find them useful!

Solex carb instead of factory Carter YF. Need to adjust all cables and springs.

Definitely all those welds on the frame panic me. There are many fixes needed. I believe this jeep was used off-road too much and that’s the result. I don’t think there is half new frame though.

Keep observing. It helps a lot! Thank you.

Standard on many M-series vehicles. Try military vehicle suppliers.

Passenger-side wiper could easily be setup with a hand-lever, and be period authentic.

Any idea if that bracket above the regulator, left of air filter is correct or it should be removed?
What about radiator and radiator shroud?
    Thanks

The bracket isn't anything I recognize as OEM. It is covering the hole where the early type heater hose was fitted, although your jeep also has a plate on the driver's side for the later heater.

The radiator and shroud look right BUT the radiator is about 2 inches higher than original, relative to the shroud. ??? The shroud ought to cover all the fins at the top of the core.

Thanks for that. Will take a look at the radiator mounting as the shroud and fan are aligned...

Another question I have is about the fuel tank. It seems correct and in good shape. I was not able to find details about the letters on its front face. MMP Inc.?
