Smitybuilts look right, but are way too firm on the foam, causing you to sit "on" the seat rather than "in" it. Just my opinion.

You can't do that with a model 18 twin stick. The left stick is for 4wd engagement and the right stick is for low or high range.

Thanks for the info Uncle Vin.

I will take care of the valve covers.

There was a fan shroud in the back of the jeep, but it must have been for something else. I couldn't get it to fit. I will probably install a electric fan(s).

Good recommendations on the seats everyone. I will start searching for something that fits. There were some vehicles at the yard a few weeks ago I have in mind to check. I wonder if old landcruiser seats would work as there was one rusting away.

hmm. I was thinking my 198’s were wrong. I am thinking about swapping them so the oil filler is on the front left instead of the back. Easier access. Also going to remove “plug” and install a breather. Thoughts?

You need a PCV valve on 1 side and a breather on the other. It doesn't matter which side the oil cap is on.

I'm not confident that your valve covers are wrong. Read the linked thread and you’ll see that there is a lot of variability between dauntless engines with a paper filter and with an oil bath.

    Can anyone recommend:

1: A good shop manual? I know my dad had one but I cannot find it. I see several versions for sale but not for a 67 w/v6.

2: A online resource for a wiring schematic?

There are PDFs of the service manuals here: Jeep® Parts Manuals online

There are wiring diagrams in the service manual.

I have a PDF manual someone on here posted a while back but I think the file is too large to upload.
Attached is all I have for a wiring diagram.

Ironlung, DNE007, Bill Schmidt and others, haven't been on here in awhile, thank you for your concerns. Spinal Stenosis was the diagnosis, narrowing of the channel where your spinal cord goes, a little Roto Rooter work and almost good as new, two knee replacements and I'll be like 50 again! Thanks to all, I'll be selling/giving away some early CJ stuff in the near future. Good Luck!

Nice rig. I'm biased. My light switch is actually out on the far left side. Yours looks to be in a different spot. Interesting...

Looks like he made it, either from new hot rod parts or modified original parts. You can buy the ball ends (male and female) from hot rod supplies. I bought an assortment of such throttle linkage parts from Summit several years ago. The spring attachment could be soldered or welded to the rod, and the spring bracket on the manifold is clearly fabricated.

After a long delay over the summer, the jeep fired up for a few seconds today, for the first time in over 20 years! Just need to finish the fuel pump wires and it should stay running just fine. Lot of other little things to finish, but it was very exciting and motivating to finally hear the v6 make some noise!
