I'm at the point of using a high pressure hot water system to my 2A's tub and frame. Herc rental has them here for a reasonable rate and the system takes baked grease, grime, and such right off without burning holes in the metal. Hope to have the tub and frame spic and span by next Wednesday.

hm, I might check into that, but the frame/body, the paint/rust needs to come off.

I like what you're doing with this project. I only have a 2000psi electric power washer, do you think it would have enough oomph to use your wet blasting technique? I'd be trying to take off paint and bondo more so than rust.

    Thank you!!;)
That's a good question, it'd be nice if it could. I do know the Northern Tool attachment in the link uses the typical 1/4" quick coupler whereas you're 2k electric~ I don't know what it has. I've really enjoyed my Honda pressure washer; great for bigger jobs than the 2k may be able to handle. We've had it for several years and still running strong. I just did a quick google, seems like the system requires at least a 3k psi:( But don't hold me to that;)

My 2k uses the same 1/4" connectors. I may just try it, and worst case scenario I end up renting something more powerful. Keep up the good work!

That's what I was thinking, it's not terribly expensive to try it; if it doesn't do the job expected, put it on the shelf with other things we'll never use:whistle::cry:

Gave up on blasting the frame today, it's just too humid and fixin to rain.

So, back to other stuff. I love my harbor freight tools blast cab with the Eastwood foot pedal!

I've been searching for the darned aluminum bracket for the power steering, but alas, none to be found:( I don't have the plate pictured how the pump was bolted.

since I'll be going with headers Novak(granted that I do get them), maybe I can rig(in good taste) a power steering bracket.

Will a regular GM alternator fit vs this dinky alt?

By chance, did you pull the water pump and check the timing cover for electrolysis? A very common problem on these V-6's. Seen covers with holes through them thus water in the oil. Fixed many with epoxy or better yet upgrade to TA Performance cover with improved oil/water passages. Pick up the their oil pump gears kit. Just a thought or 2.

Hi Jim, thank you for putting some advice(y), Now I haven't begun to assemble the engine, just putting the parts on for fun, and checking out the power steering pump bracket.
I did media blast, well most things that look "newer". I'll check into the TA performance, didn't know about them. I did order and upgraded melling high volume oil pump. But I wouldn't mind a new timing cover for piece of mind. I will inspect the timing cover as you suggested and if I find something, I'll for sure post it:D

Ok, got around to blasting the frame with the wetblaster, used about 50lbs of media and of course made a heck of a mess. Have to work on that part of the process!

It was very humid and shortly flash rusting started pretty quickly, but I have a gallon of phosphoric acid for the occasion. Just sprayed a fine mist and the flash rust disappears;)

Epoxy, then in the morning I'll shoot some industrial semi-gloss and be done with the frame:bananatool:The rotisserie is awesome!!

It's pretty in the sunlight, what sunlight we had.

Frame is "finished", two coats of semi-gloss industrial whatever paint. Also media blasted the T-crossmember, painted it too(y)

Took the starter completely apart, media blasted, all looked good, lubed what needed lubing, painted(of course) bench tested, wrapped on put on the shelf:D

I need to figure out how I'm going to work on the diffs, they are THE MOST pain in the buttocks things to move around, and I've got all kinds of ways to movin things around. I'll think of something.

We're pretty much here on our 1 acre, not going anywhere, were stocked up before everything, but I'll be in the shop as much as I can~ I love my shop/garage/fortress of Solitude;)

No pics but got some good news:rofl:~ I went to order the BDS springs, and they can be delivered to a local place called All out Offroad, 12 minutes from us! I called the place and he said if I order direct from him, he can get me an additional 10% off:bananatool:! So, he'll call me in the morning to make sure the product is in stock. Now to order some other stuff from Kaiser folk:confused:

the All out Offroad place said the front springs aren't available right now, but soon. But I have a question~ With a 2 1/2" lift springs, will I need new or lengthened driveshafts?

I have had to lengthen the shafts after doing OTA or spring lifts.
As a guide, you need 1 1/2" travel. So if the drive shaft yoke is fully extended out and you have 3" of travel, Collapse/compress driveshaft until it's 1 1/2" of travel exposed. CENTERED. That is where the drive shaft should BASICALLY be. Get your springs, motor, everything back in place, even a winch, hi jack, etc. Let the old gal "jeep" gain weight, then see what length the driveshaft needs to be.

For confusion, remember the springs will relax a little. Maybe give 1/4" in length.

Jeepsterjim, I understood what you wrote(y), that made good sense! I'll continue and hope the springs come in and deal with it at that time! Thank you!!

I needed a cart for the little V6, so I had some leftover material and a set of casters. I bought the differential attachment recommended by Warloch, so I wan't just going to put my engine on the floor. This rolls really nicely!
