Hey guys. I really want to change my t14 for a sm420. Especially since my t14 is broken and I have the sm420. But I still need the adapter and the drivelines. I have the bell housing. Any suggestions? Anyone wanna sell some stuff?

I used the Novak Adapter. It works. Its expensive but nicely made and their support is great. Tom Woods made my rear driveshaft. Its expensive and nicely made too. I'm going to remake my front driveshaft as the slip yoke and splines are wore out. It doesn't need to be balanced and perfect because its slow speed and I am in 2wd about 99.99% of the time anyway.

I know Novak sells the adapter but I need new drivelines because it extends the t-case 4” towards the back of the vehicle.

If you have access to a lathe long enough you can make a satisfactory driveshaft that might be just fine.. Or it might not. The front is easy, grind the welds and knock off the ends. Buy some DOM, cut to length, make sure to phase the yokes correctly and weld er up.

I think Tom Woods made my rear for like 385.00 with a double cardan joint with shipping.

I also used the Novak adapter. Great product and support. Local shop did my drive shafts.
This swap was definitely worth it for me.

I run and SM420/Dana 18, beastly drivetrain, I'm sure you'll be happy with the return on investment. Everyone always asks me what my favorite part about my Jeep is and I always tell them it's a tie between the Dana 18 and the SM420. $300 for front and rear driveshafts is a bargain too!

From what I recall, you can have the PTO and/or an overdrive replacing the cover on the back of the transfer case. Herm has a page - Power Take Off | Herm The Overdrive Guy Herm may have one on the shelf, but typically it's an eBay / Craig's List / swap meet type item.

As it is right now I have a OD on the back. Can I use a pto and still have my OD?

I think so, but IIRC it involves more scarce parts. Call Herm and ask him.

Or sell the PTO winch and go electric. Likely cheaper in the long run.

That’s another thing. I have a warn 8375. It’s a big ol’ Honkin thing. Not sure I wanna put it back on the Jeep. It weighs 200 pounds.

I have thousands of jeep parts ‘68-‘46. But not all of the ones I need to finish my one Jeep.
