I hope not. I ran him at varying rpm yesterday in the drive and sounds fine for now. Plan is to start taking short trip close by just in case. But seems I have too much stuff getting in the way. And now the Wilbur issue.

Well so far so good but only 50 miles on it. Have a devil of time figuring out it likes to die as I come to stop signs, make U-turns or any time just pulling in the clutch at low speeds. Sometimes even just sitting in the flat drive way idling. I've checked plugs, wires, timing, vacuum leaks, raised the idle and while better, still does it. It didn't have the issue before, but does now. Gonna try the carb idle screw next.

I know it set for a while, did the carb get gummed up a bit? Do you have stabilizer in the gas?

Did they put the shim back behind the fuel pump?

The sitting was not that long given the first round of engine being out. But I am running the fuel down in the tank and then will fill it with fresh. Today I'm planning to put a can of SeaFoam in the tank to run the last few gallons of gas thru. I don't think it's a sticking float as it's even on flat surface. I was having a very rough idle and attributed it to vacuum leak so I replaced one rubber hose on the assist side of the fuel pump and plugged the wiper side. That made a big difference. Will be replacing the long line to the wiper and testing the wiper motor itself.

There wasn't a shim there to start with and I don't think they even messed with that.

Oh. Just a thought. I know that can have an effect on fuel pressure/volume.

Just clocked the 100 mile mark and so far, no noise. The first time I didn't hear anything til the 300 mark, the second at the 50ish so I still want to get another 200 before I get comfortable and at least 500 before I take it to the mountains. Still having some hesitation on flooring it but I'm thinking it's either fuel or electrical issue, not engine.

Up to over 250 miles and no strange noises so I'm calling it good and planning to pull it to the mountains next week. I still think the carb is acting up a bit from setting so going to order a kit to mess with up there.
