    Basic starting place:
    1962 M38A1
    Buick 225
    HEI ignition
Custom rear tank w baffling, fuel pump etc

Working through a design in which a crank sensor would provide a uniform RPM signal using one that has a sensing face 90 degrees from mounting point. Allows sensor to be between harmonic balance and innermost pulley grove, about 0.030 spaced from face of harmonic when using a 3 groove crank pulley. This should see the uniformly spaced holes in harmonic. Pretty well protected on upper portion of harmonic. Sensor was used for the 2000s import models and readily available for < $50.

Almost have test set-up complete to validate, s/b done this weekend

Anyone else worked the RPM issue?

(looking at Holley Sniper/ FI Tech EFI units for my EFI and they need a uniform signal) too many previous issues w carb, angle, and altitude changes in trips therefore EFI

Decided to not use flywheel tooth counter and Dekota box to divide down due to location I would need to drill and tap hole at top of bell housing.
Also decided to not add trigger wheel between harmonic and pulley as it would cause the pulley to not be hub centric with the harmonic. And needing displacement of other pulleys to line up.
Adding a trigger wheel on the backside of the harmonic is problematic due to multiple different height protrusions and having to add a likely stress inducing trigger wheel hub centric land to the balance. (Would need rebalance as well w spacers required on part of the mount)
Like the all in one concept vs the GM throttle body w separate ECU that is available also.

My neighbor is putting a FI-Tech setup on his 225 currently, I'm running two EZ-EFI setups on 225s currently, I started with a Powerjection setup, bought a Summit setup to put on my niece's 231 OF. You simply use the HEI filter they supply and it works fine. There is simply no reason to fight with getting a secondary even pulse if your not controlling spark.

******* is putting a command module on his setup (looks real nice and should fit a CJ5 nice and clean). I use the rail pumps and custom gas tanks on my setups. All of them run HEI as that is a requirement for the tach signal for the setups.

Forgot to add - here is one of the initial starts with the EZ-EFI on the '49.

You could sell the GM ECU and run a Megasquirt computer. It will handle odd fire without mods. They are available assembled if you don't want to build one.

Maybe look in TAOE for a circuit that averages pulses, or picks every other pulse and doubles the rate.

Do you know if the FI Tech is operational?
Looked at the EZ EFI and was hoping to have an all in one without a box under dash ( though the EZ loom does make the wiring manageable)

Using MS 3X on my 1975BMW 2002, currently looking to not have to have a separate ECU. Looking at Sniper or FITech solutions due to that desire but noted elsewhere the Sniper requires a uniform trigger.
The FITech folks “think” their unit should work but have no direct experience that they do.

If the system has some road time that Warloch talked about that might move me to FITech otherwise I will build the crank trigger with uniform output and likely use the Holley.

Though the EZ EFI tech I just called did say I could put the ECU in engine compartment.

He is only waiting on his HEI - the vendor sent him an EF 231 marked as OF 225. I showed him the differences. It should be running 'soon' and everything I see says it should be fine. The Summit is basically the same setup.

As to the EZ-EFI - you can mount the ECU anyplace. The wire harness is pretty long. I have mine inside the engine compartment with a simple shield to keep water from soaking it, and it's even been wet several times without issues. Its been wheeling in CO for several years - one of my favorite trail is Taylor Pass and you drive up the stream bed for about 150 yards over rocks and quite a bit of rough - water to the bottom of the motor (fan is just out of it).
