New here but what a great forum. Love the smarts. My 70 CJ5 V6 with dual mc is making me mad. New brake pedal was contacting the bell housing. Bent it slightly away from bell housing. Now it rubs side of dual mc. Do I need to custom fit the new pedal?

I believe this has been addressed here in the past. I seem to remember the late V6 CJs having a different brake pedal arm with a slightly different bend. You say this is a new arm? Can you compare it, side by side, with the original?
I know some members here have had worn pedal arms re-bushed.

I seem to remember mine had tight clearance issues too. Is there any slop in the pivot bushing at the frame rail? Seem to remember also there being a pedal for the v6 and another for the fhead. Not much difference, but enough to cause issues like you stated

Bought CJ in parts. No pedal at all. Bought one from KW. Shaft has no wear/slop. New pedal is straight - no bends. I bent it slightly to clear bell. Now contacts mc. I've seen where others have bent at bell, but nothing about more bends for dual mc. All spacers and mounts are good. Pedal hole in floor lines up with pedal. Very cold out today. Will get pics soon.

That’s your problem, the v6 arm is not straight it has a double bend in it.

I don't think there are any reproduction pedals for the V6. You might email kaiser-Willys to see if they can get a line on a used one, or try peter debellas jeep parts, or Walcks.

This is the best picture I have of mine, it doesn't really show the entire pedal arm, but you get the idea. Maybe you can bend the one you have.

Had the same problem. Bent the pedal and ground a little material away from pedal and bell housing where they had interference . Made some guides from UHMW to fit in holes on floor to limit sideways travelof pedal shaft. So far so good. One time with brake pedal hitting bell housing on sudden stop was enough for me. No more trouble since.

I believe KW resells Herm's kit as their own. You might try reaching out to Herm.

Here's a shot showing how the V6 brake lever jogs to the left to clear bellhousing, yet still clear MC.
