So..I installed my new windshield from Omix today and I have to say I am very impressed. My original windshield frame was completely toast. I looked and looked for a NOS or OEM windshield frame that was worth buying and being on the east coast I had very little luck. So I decided to try an Omix frame (#12006.06). I had a local glass company come out and move my OEM windshield over to my new frame. I was wondering the whole time how well it would fit and it went in super smooth. They had no issues whatsoever and commented on the quality of the frame. I know Omix doesn’t have the best name but I have to say that my honest review is that I am very pleased with my new windshield and can’t wait until I get the rest of the Jeep as shiny and clean as the windshield frame :D

I had one many years ago, it was ok but the holes varied in location one side to the other. Good to hear they've improved. :)

I don't think there's much problems with the early frames (glass) . I am surprised it fit so well (y)
it's when you get the years with the curved glass . the problems arise . my stock glass wouldn't fit the frame

I'd move this to the Early CJ-5 forum. Here in off-topic it will expire and be purged. Clearly this is topical for early CJ-5 owners.

Did you paint it or does it come in gloss black?

Looks good to me though, regardless.

It comes in black primer. I just rattle canned it with Rustoleum black and about 3 coats of clear. For just spray paint I think it turned out fine! I figured down the line when I restore the whole Jeep it will probably get re-painted professionally anyway. (y)

Looks good, I saw the chrome windshield latches, and said that's a Tux, Nice Jeep. That re-popped windshield looks a lot better out of the box than the one I used. Good Luck. I would like to see more of it. It has a column shift dash, but not column, did you change the steering column?

Thank you, Rick! The Jeep is a Tuxedo Park and is a 1965. It was originally a column shift and still has the bracketry for it but was converted to a stick shift T90 at some point in its life. I think it would be cool to take it back to column shift when I tear down in the next coming years to do a rebuild with my boys (now 2 yrs and 4 yrs). I have a lot of the original Tux pieces which is a nice bonus! (y)

    Close up of the column:

Good news if they (MD Juan ) finally produced a Re-pop that really fit.......and ya know that really should have never been an issue as I've gone through dozens of OEM frames of various years that all fit.....as long as the body / cowl area had not been smacked.

Nice jeep, she is happy with this new windshield. Omix cannot be bad all the time, that's the proof!

Great pictures! The one with the large tree in the background is a calendar picture.
Tires made such a difference too.

I think the forum wise men have deduced the originals were painted in gloss black enamel and not the fancier paints used on the bodies.

Question : About painting, I see that your barn is in wood, probably made around 1900? On the timbers wood roof support you have a sort of painting, is it a sort of chalk, as in mine. In French it is a sort of "chaux vive", maybe quicklime but less agressive, insects were not coming inside. We also put this around the tree trunks, to avoid insects to come and eat leaves and fruits.

The house and barn were both built in 1890. You are correct, it was what we call “whitewash” and it is exactly what you describe. It was done when they milked dairy cattle in the barn to make it appear “cleaner” or “sanitary”. Very cool bits of history and understanding why the old timers did what the did and why. Everything is mortise and tenon/post beam and pin construction and still standing square today (y)

Thank you! It’s come a long way and there’s still more to be done. My wife and I bought the farm a little over 2 years ago and are slowly renovating the house and barn ourselves. Of course, I seem to always be getting in trouble because I want to spend time working on my barn/shop/Jeep while I’m supposed to be working on “her projects”
