I would hope your new engine is lighter than the f-head 134, it weighs around 470lbs and the Buick 225 v6 weighs around 75-90lbs less than that. It’s why there is such a drastic difference when you swap them, less weight and double the hp and torque from the f head to the dauntless engine. Not to mention the kinetic energy saved by that 64lb flywheel of the Dauntless.

The Mercruiser 470 is supposed to weigh around 425 lbs without the marine manifolds, which are heavy. There is also a pretty heavy voltage regulator and heat exchanger that are not used for swapping purposes.
I would guess these things weigh close to 400 lbs ready to bolt into a Jeep.
Yes, I keep looking at those aftermarket alloy Ford 460 heads!

I'll try to weigh after exhaust is bolted on.
    Read seal going in.
    Ok gm small block help?
What year engine mount? 4-1/2 L. To R., 3-1/4 top triangle to bottom hole.
I want the single front to rear mount bolt mount.
I've found the half that goes on the frame, rubber single through bolt style, sandwiched between steel , with bolt holes on ea side.
I ant taking my jeep off the road until bout April, because of bad weather posiabilities?
So I'm trying to do all fab work , I can for install at later date?

I can't wait to see your Jeep all together. That is a good looking motor, they made all kinds of up grades for that motor, it was used in Hydro Plane racing. I had a set of four Dellorto, can't spell it, carbs for one with velocity stacks and home made linkage , looked like fuel injection, found at a garage sale. Gave them to a Buddy for his Man Cave.

Coil and ballast resistor mounted and wired.
Found an old set of 8.8 hot rod plug wires, cleaned them up, added a little bling?

Starting on building a engine start up stand today.
Still gotta fab a alt mount.

Well, bendix would not disengauge? So apart again.
The splines were out of time, so after poking a screwdriver through my thumb,
Getting the retainer ring out, it's fixed and now returns.(didn't remove bendix 1st time).
Got a find some flywheel bolts (it had studs),then it's ready to test spin with a battery.
Then maby start on building a engine startup stand?
We got a light snow in East tn, might have to go play? 20181204_105830.jpg

I've heard there is another starter that fits that has a lot smaller nose that just needs a touch of trimming. I don't think its the International Scout version, but it may be.
I'm heading 50 miles south of here in the next day or two, and might try to stop by a guy's shop where he has two Anglias, each with these engines. If I get up with him, I check what starters he's using.

Ok, on my super high teck eBay, bathroom, scale, with alum bell and bout 3lb wood braceing ,
403 lbs. Still no exhaust ,but it can't weigh more than the bell and the wood?
So at roughly 400 lbs, it's already lighter than my 134.
I'll make a starter cover later if I end up using this bell?

Benn re reading the 64 page Hamb forum?
Seems the stock gm motor mounts may not fit, probably have to fab my own.
Got some freebie used ones coming from a Buddy to play with?
Now gotta find a radiator and finish this start up wagon?
Ps-I've found a place for an oil pressure gauge, but water temp ,
can't find ,except for a 1/8 pipe thread block drain?

I think the bolt pattern is the same as Chevy V6/V8, but inverted (upside down). Most marine mounts don't care which way is up. The center mounting threaded shaft just goes in from either side, plus, that gets you nearly infinite adjustment.

    BETTER THAN SEX...
    I'm getting excited!
Not since I built vw 1835s, flat 4s in the 80s, has a 4cyl got my pulse up?
    This thing is looking mean?
Looks like it will be a fender well exit?
This is the passenger side, the drivers side barley hit the starter, I'm sure a mini starter or a int scout would clear the other one!
Buy the way, it's for sale, exactly what I paid for it, 66$ + shipping, if anyone wants, pm me?
    2in od tubes, 1-7/8 ID.
But the bolts sent were metric( maybe the FI 460s used metric?)
Had to round up some 3/8 header bolts(must use , the head of a regular bolt won't clear).
    2-1/2 in collector.

Be aware that when this starts (and I'm sure it will!), these engine have a real bad issues with managing torque. The engines want to twist, or roll over on their side. The stock engine mounting system in the boat had the engine suspended from the center, front and rear.
What I'm warning you to be aware of, watch out running this beast on your push-cart, or the whole works may be laying on its side! The engines have much more torque than other engines I've been around, and short blips of the throttle really cause the engine to rock over sideways! I guarantee when this fires up, you'll be revving this thing. They thump at idle, and are not very smooth or refined.

It's actually already ran, only bout 2 min, timing light hooked up, and no water in it?
Revved and idled surprisingly smooth? Was expecting it to shake and bounce?
Book says timing 8 btdc, would not start, went bout 12-14 and it fired and ran?
Idled nice and smooth bout 800rpm.
Having starter trouble, taking it to starter repair shop on way to wife's Dr app tomorrow.
    Bendix won't stay engauged
While starter at shop, I'm retorqueing head, then I'll do again after I run it 20-30 min
    With coolant in system.
Carb seems lean? No smoke at all?
    Hardley any vibration?
After reading all the post about about ballence was expecting bad vibes?
Hope to have starter back by Wednesday?
Might have video up by weekend?

Head re torqued, all moved just a cat hair.
Plenty if oil getting to the valve train.
Starter shop closed, I may tear back into it today, feel sure I got the drive splines out of time,
At first it would not come back, now it won't stay in?
Any prestolite starter drive experts on hear?
    Problems, problems ???
