Yep the ubolts need trimming but the 60 is getting there. Slowly due to heat. Then a trip to the muffler shop for a couple of tailpipes once I get the brakes on.

Tackled the roof rust on the "new" delivery with brick-sized wire brushes, stiff and medium. Surprized at how good the roof gutters look after a good stiff wire brushing!

This shows how much rust the air line blew off! Delivery018.JPG

Then I got out the Rust-Arrestor product from Zep Manufacturing. It's past it's shelf life. So is my delivery. Anyways, directions state to use wire brush and to avoid creating clean metal with power tools. By the time I was done painting the roof, it was getting dark. Think you can still see the results in the pics.

Dusk photo almost looks like I did something today!!!

finally got my tire carrier cobbled together for a fit-up. This is based on a design someone posted a link to a couple months back. I just need to clean up the crappy welds, sand & paint then it will be ready.

Was messing with the 3B while I got a break from the rain.

    Compression test results

    1. ok
    2. good
    3. none
    4. good

The engine tried to run and cranking over had ~20 psi. Guess I'll be pulling it for a rebuild.

Very possible. I didn’t pop the valve cover to check. It also had oil coated spark plugs and the non fouling adapters on two of them. Machine work would only cost me my time so I figured there’s nothing to lose there. Also I’ve been looking into the f134 performance threads lately and I am willing to experiment on this engine :sneak:

Drove the CJ6 for the first time since the Dana 20 and Dana 60 install. 1. The purple hornies mufflers are just this side of ignorantly loud, although I expected it. Hopefully tailpipes will make it more tolerable. I wanted clearance so that’s why I used glass packs. It sounds great but whew! 2. There is no x case noise at all now. I forgot how quiet a Dana 20 was! I was able to tell on the downhill without the little Oddfire making noise through the dual exhaust. 3. The rear brakes are back to being drums, 11 inches. Stops like a champ and the pedal is right at the top. Overall I am really pleased. Tonight—-tailpipes!

I am working on a dana 20 and centered 44 swap for this very reason. Parts are starting to roll in and I'm getting excited. I will probably wait till after hunting season to get it all installed.

No tailpipes. My wife's car broke down so I had to pick her up. Hopefully tomorrow...

Got tailpipes on. Sounded great. Getting on the highway it suddenly got loud(er). I pulled over and looked, the rear dump drivers side manifold bell just fell off! A telltale rust ring encircled most of the way around. Must've been cracked for a while and fiddling around with the exhaust finished it off. Now to find another one. Why couldn't it be the passenger side?

    Woot. Little jeep things today.

First - cleared a path to roll it outta the garage.

Started cutting the x-member for the saggy swap. Gonna wrap that tomorrow. Timeline today shifted.

Put the bump stops on the frame. Forgot the PO of this axle (11in brakes and lunchbox locker) cut the passenger side bump arm off of the axle housing. Noted.

Added the angled shims back to the rear. Odd, the spring pins dont seem extra long to make solid full contact with spring perch. May need to come back and revisit. Stock setup tho...

Got the 1/2in stock plates (two 1/4 in stacked plates) back under the transmission cross member. Held back on installing rear driveline.

Bolted the Transfer to the cross member. It is now official.

Bolted the torque dampner (?) to the transfer and frame.

Put the rear bell crank in place on the driver side. The T-98 adaptation for this 225 is a fun puzzle.

Played with some 5/16 tubing and the double flare tool. I suck at this, and it really bites into the aluminum tubing. Going to play some more.

Your comment got me to wondering. Where are you using aluminum tubing and needing a double flare end on the tubing? Brakes? No.

After 2 days of rain and being unable to work outside, The lack of rain yesterday let me manage to get the right fender off my 63 wagon. Going for putting the 4x4 chassis from the 63 wagon under the 50 panel delivery. Fender looks quite fair, the Tornado leaked enough oil to preserve the inner areas that tend to rust-through!

Fuel line that will be frame routed vs tub routed. Have ni-cop or a silimilar ‘brake approved’ alloy for doing the brake lines.

I'm not an expert on this but I'd be worried about vibrations & corrosion.
