Box will come back with boot-impact tracks where shipping company lug kicked it across the warehouse. Then there will be some crushing where they drove over it with a dual tire truck.
Then moser employee will use a crowbar and 3lb hammer to open, ripping out all screw threads.
Will return wrapped in mostly torn fiber tape, missing at least 1/3 of a corner... with a note that the box busted in between shipping warehouse A and B.
Shipping company will slow to about 30mph while spinning a donut in your drive, as they kick it out the door, where it tumbles to rest against your shop door.
And shipping company will claim you did not pack it properly for shipping.

Based on personal experience with shipping other large items...

    Welcome to the 80s!

I saw these on CL for $40 and couldn't pass them up. New in box. I had a set of these on my '70 and loved them. From what I remember, Rugged Trail was bought out by Warn around 1992, phased into their Black Diamond line, then eventually shut down. These will be perfect for the front of the Varg.
11" of travel and in perfect shape.

I wonder if the rebate address is still valid.

I have a set of teal blue shock boots I could send you - they would at least bring the varg into the 90s. I still have my early eighties Heco Big Yellow steering stabilizer I plan to use just for old times sake.

I haven't sent it off yet.
    Too many distractions!
I did call them with some other concerns, and they said if I wanted my box back I need to specify that in the instructions I provide. I'd think it would be obvious, but...

I'll be back on this project around January. In the meantime, I ran to the you-pull-it yard in the rain today and laid in the biohazard mud. I figured water was better than snow; gotta take 'bad' over 'worse'.

I picked up a front CV driveshaft from an Explorer (it uses standard 1310 joints and 2" tube) to make my rear shaft, and a front sway bar from a Grand Cherokee that I can hopefully make work. $36 even.

I got thinking about this and couldn't go to bed without knowing...

I dug the Rodeo driveshaft out of the pile-o-parts and lined it up next to the Explorer shaft. Hmmm... they look a lot alike.

It turns out, the splines are identical between the two. I pulled the boots back and swapped the yokes... all I'll have to do now is shorten the tube, and this shaft is done!!

Not much in the way of spline length on the Explorer shaft is there?

It didn't strike me as overly short, but it's definitely not a long-travel unit. It does have some girth to it though. I'll grab some measurements when I can.

Rodeo male splines are 2 1/2" long.
Explorer splines are 3 3/4" long.
    Both are 1 3/8" wide.
Both shafts' female splines are 4 3/4" long.

I used an explorer shaft in the rear when I stretched my 5
The shaft is 2" diameter .120 wall.
I added some length and 4.5 stroke.
    Beefier then an XJ shaft.
