I'm thinking about greasing all the fittings so I was looking over the FSM and it looks like all the number 1, 2 and 3 positions, but it's not real clear, to me atleast, exactly how many I should count to make sure I get them all. Since modern cars don't have fittings, it's been awhile since I've done one and I know to get the shackles, U-joints and steering linkage, but having a number to check off would be nice, especially since the underside is caked in 60 years of accumulated grease, mud and oil leaks. I'd hate to miss one until I learn them all.

    Tie rod ends - 4
    Steering bell crank - 1
    Drag link - 2
    Brake pedal arm -1
Pedal assembly main pivot - 1
    U- joints - 4
Prop shaft slip yokes - 2
    Shackles- ? (mine aren't greasable)

This is best I can remember on my 68 cj5 V6. Likely missed some or there may be others for the 4 cyl? Chime in gents...

Not all years though if I understand correctly. What year Jeeps did have a grease fitting on the axle?

    Transfer case shifter shaft!!!

Everyone forgets that - that's why the levers always rattle.

That's the diagram I was referring to in my first post. I counted 25 but wasn't sure if I got them all.

This matches my count plus the shifter pin on the twin sticks and the wheel bearings = 18.

    Not a diagram - a written list.
A paragraph in the text that describes each one individually.

No indication of ever being there, no plug where the grease fitting would have been?

None at all. I wish there was though. I would like to be able to get some fresh grease in there without needing to dig out the hub puller.
