Only if you traded in your real Jeeps when you bought this.

    Congrats!

Congrats Tim. Not a CJ nor Wrangler, but are surprisingly good off road and actually get some decent economy.

You will love it. I know I did mine. Unfortunately, mine was an early production 2014 and had mechanical problems that have since been ironed out. After it's third mechanical malfunction I traded it in.

For me the front seats are amazingly comfortable. I wish they would put those in every vehicle they make.

Sure. Drove to Virginia and back a couple of weeks ago. Got a solid 26 mpg at a constant 70 mph. Paid nearly as much in tolls as for gas. Easy to drive, and comfortable. I feel a minor torque steer or maybe the toe is wrong, but nothing startling. It will change direction a bit over ridges in the road or torque steer? Controllable but annoying. I will ask for a diagnosis and alignment.

I have a few complaints, but this is a Chrysler certified used car, so I have another month or so on the comprehensive warranty, and through 2020 and 100K miles on the drive train warranty. Chrysler wants to sell me a comprehensive protection plan.

This is a 2015, and it has the missing 3-2 downshift problem. Coming to a stop it will skip 2nd and harshly go into 1st at nearly a dead stop. At a slow roll, it stays in third unless you hammer the throttle, then it downshifts to 1st and leaps. This is a problem I will be complaining about to FCA. No heat in the footwells with climate control - apparently this is a programming problem.

Some of the gadgets are irritating. It has all the saftey gear, including collision avoidance and parking assistance. There is a visual readout and alarms, and you can turn off the visual but not the alarms. Your only option is to turn off the feature if you want it to be silent ... seems backwards. The alarms are too startling and seem like nagging. The back up camera is great, but when the situation is complicated (lots of cars and people nearby), the reversing collision alarm sounds and I can't see why. And it's not connected to the park sense feature. So the programming for that isn't perfect. I leave the collision avoidance on its least sensitive setting, turn off the park sense (this will stay off) and habitually turn off the engine stop-start feature. Unfortunately that will not remember its setting, so you have to manually disable it from a button on the dash at every start. There is a guy that's selling a USB plug that will turn it off, but he wants about $200 for it ... has not reached that level of annoyance.

Blind spot detection on the driver's side is helpful. There is a big blind spot.

Really, about the only safety feature I like is the backup camera. Tire pressure sensors seem sensible. The heated steering wheel is great. Rain sensitive wipers are nice. Headlights are really anemic.

Thinking about new tires. The Jeep came from the factory with 245R65-17 Firestone Destination ATs. Apparently the PO wore those out in 60K miles and the Jeep now has a set of same-size Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 "studless snow and ice" tires. I expect these are really good in the rain, light snow and ice, but they howl at low speed - likely from the aggressive siping - and are quite new. The spare is a Destination AT and looks like it has never been on the ground. FCA gave me a full sized spare, but cheaped-out on the wheel with a 1/2" narrower steel wheel for the spare, and no spare pressure sensor. Considering buying a matching mag wheel with pressure sensor and mounting 5 identical tires. Have not decded if I'm going larger. Factory is 29.5" diam and supposedly you can go to 32s if you trim the body seams in the front wheel house.

If I think of other things, I'll add them.

    Tires - Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2

The Fact that the Cherokee can get optioned up to $43k is amazing to me. I mean, its a well kitted out vehicle, but that is big money for a small suv.

Not fully optioned ... could have had a nicer wheel for the spare :)

The original buyer leased it, then bought it.

I'm getting around 21-22 mpg on my V6 2016 GC in mixed mode daily driving- that's about 20 minutes a day each of city highway (~75) and rural- beats the hell out of the 12 I was getting with my 5.9 Durango :) I have a few road trips coming up this summer & I'm really curious to see what I can get out if it.

I'm still on the fence about the backup camera- I still use the mirrors most of the time but that may simply be 40 years of habit.

Interesting that you don't care for the safety features so much- I would have loved to have the collision & blind spot on mine but with used you got to take what's on the lot. ;)

My only real dislike on it so far is that the IRS seems to be a more squirrely than the solid rear on the Durango- sudden swerves to avoid idiots tends to be followed by a bit of body roll oscillation- nothing terrible but not as solid feeling.

The blind spot detector is good ... it works, and the little lighted orange triangle in the mirror is in the right place to see it if you want to change lanes. Hard to overcome the urge to glance over and check though.

There is a lot of area directly behind the Jeep that I could not see if I did not have the camera, even with turning around and looking (like I was taught in driver's ed, and which the CA driving test inspectors check).

I like the trailhawks. Wish we could've gotten one. Hope you get the trans worked out. 14's where bad enough that if i do a trans or valvebody they have a newer transmission they want installed. Have to order it specific to vin so we can upgrade the software to match it. 15's aren't that bad but usually software updates and/or valvebody will fix most issues. We dont need powertrain authorization anymore to replace them so as long as we fill the paperwork out we can just order a new trans. My wife's will be getting a trans soon. Better than it was, but will still slam into gears under certain loads
