I found this folding tool in the woods. I have no idea what it is or how old. Can anyone solve this mystery for me.

If it helps it was found in an area of south Georgia close to several civil war battle sites. But it does not appear to be old enough for that era.

It appears to be complete as is--nothing noticeably missing /broken--Correct?
The lobes on the "keys" are graduated in size.

    Is this a handheld-size apparatus?

Soooo... what's a horse fleam? As you can tell, my laziness this morning has no bounds, and I can't trouble myself to look it up.

That is what it is all-right. Never heard of the tool but had read about the practice of bleeding.

No curiosity, ehh? They were used by a phlebotomist...err, is that horse quacks! The ones pictured were "horse-sized", I believe. Of no use on your Jeep--Jeeps don't bleed--red blood cells that is.

    Incredible.

I would have never guessed it was for bleeding horses.

I found it near Ebenezer creek outside of Savannah. Almost 15 years ago. It may be civil war era. There were lots of battles in that area. There were also lots of farms/plantations too.
