hey guys. Wasn’t sure if this was the place to post but I found a fix that might help someone. So my key was hard to turn to the point that I was twisting the tumbler in the dash. So annoying. Tried wd40. And I️t only worked for a couple days. I saw a solution on YouTube. I need a dry lube. So I found a graphite pencil and rubbed on sandpaper. Then put graphite dust on folded paper. Grabbed a straw and blew into keyhole. Worked great. Key turns now with no effort.

good point (so to speak) also something to keep in mind is there are two parts of the switch the tumblers that the graphite lubes and the electrical contacts. For those I like to use a product called de-oxit and deoxit gold. It can (used to) be found at radio shack or many electronics stores (fry's, etc). A little spray, time to sit, work it back and forth and protect it with the gold. Many switches can be accessed enough through small openings on the switch, or carefully drill a small hole and tape shut with duct tape after cleaning and protecting the electrical contacts in the switch. While at it, the headlight, e flasher, and even connections wil do well with a little dousing and protecting with the product.

Back in the days of yore, it was always recommended to use graphite, not oil, on locks.

Great info. I liked the graphite because I could fix without yet another trip to the hardware store! Haha. I also read somewhere that fluid film is great for electrical contacts. Because of the roads here in winter I have that stuff on hand and like using that for contacts as well as all over undercarriage. Cheers

I use it on battery terminals. I got a spray can with my order of a "kit" and figured I should use it for something. The company suggests that use. Seems to work well.

Glad to hear. Always asking for solutions around hear so thought to pass this along.
I was getting white oxidation all over my brand new shackles last year. Come to find out fluid film is a good coating. Used on oil rigs. Nice that Lowe’s usually carry’s the stuff so easy to pick up. So this is my first snow season and so far all looking great under there
