I've been trying to track down some oem seat frames for nearly a year now, and finally I find a complete set on Ebay out of a '72 CJ5.
They arrived yesterday, so I took them out to the Jeep so I could finally see my Jeep with some seat frames in it. I sat the passenger side frame into position first, and the bolt holes lined up perfectly. I sat the drivers side frame into place and the front bolt holes lined up, but the holes at the rear of the frame are a good 2-3 inches off.
What am I missing? It looks as if although the frames look identical, the mounting is slightly off between the '66 and '72 frames.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - '72 driver's side won't fit a '66. The driver's seating position is different. The '72 with Saginaw steering sits more outboard than the CJ with Ross steering.

Early '55-71 - Intermediate '72-75 - Late '76-83. There are significant differences between each generation. Ask here and we'll be happy to advise.

    First post! Welcome from Boston.

That's what I was figuring I'd have to do. I'm still in the beginning stages of learning to weld, so it's not gonna be pretty.

Fortunately it's just a little grinding and a couple of welds. Unfortunately I paid a pretty penny for the set.

Thank you much. I've been reading and learning from you guys for about a year now. Got my '66 from my dad for Christmas last year.
