Found the brown wire wasn't plugged into the blue wire on the Spartan turn signal pigtail which meant no signal/flasher/brake lights to the rear. Connecting those wires repaired the signal/flashers but still no brake lights. Cleaned the terminals on the break light switch and now I have brake lights.
Opened up the turn signal housing to see if I could get the indicator light to work. Bad bulb but still no go with a new bulb. Had voltage with a test light so ? I tried using the turn signal housing as a ground to test for voltage and there was none. Removed the housing and sanded the inside of the bracket and the steering column where it mounts. That did the trick. I also tightened up the two screws inside the housing. All works well. This is the first Jeep I ever bothered to fix that light. It's kind of a cool feature. (y)
You can sort of see the shiny on the steering column and the light ON. Why does this simple stuff take all afternoon?

With Moab trip coming up this weekend (drop me a line if you are going to be out there), it was time to swap the carb jets to one size bigger. I've been running 47 jets which work really well here in Colo at the high elevations, but Denver is kind of the bottom limit - if not pushing it a bit too low. So swapped in the 48s last night and should be good to go for Moab (4000') and will leave them in throughout the winter and spring here in Denver. Will swap back to the 47s next summer when the high elevation trails open back up.
Why would you want electronically controlled TBI when you can have this kind of fun a couple times a year...

Sat and stared at the back of my CJ-6 trying to picture a recessed 4 inch led stop\tail\turn\backup light instead of what I have. Then I'd use my current bumper mounted LEDs on the windshield pillars to shine forward n a bit sideways.

I took one of my hood hold downs off to clean and paint it yesterday afternoon. Got interrupted so decided to wait until today to finish. Now I can't find the dang thing. I have looked everywhere.:mad:

I know, I know....I'll find it in the last place I look.

Its in your toolbox, 3rd drawer down. At least that's where I find everything I put down. Usually I absent mindedly stick it in the toolbox with the tool that took it off.

wonder if the hood was open when you were messing with the hold-down - so maybe its in the engine bay under the hood. I like to put stuff on top of the grill right in front of the radiator under the hood.

Fabbed brackets for steering shaft and to convert clutch hard line to hose. Then I tackled some brake line . I bought a 3/16 kit from Summit and have to say I'm ruined. Never touch steel line again. The t bracket and rear cover needed a quick flap disc tuneup to mate up cleanly. Did a few small things today. First, did an oil change. Then put in a new accelerator pump in the Rochester 2G ( the one I replaced was not giving a good solid spray to each barrel anymore ) and last changed the oil in the oil bath filter. Ready for some sunny weather, it’s pouring out now.

I know I need to post a pic but it won't go from my IPhone. Anyhow, the Jeep got flush mounted tail lights and reverse lights cut into the tub(shudder) and bumper. I think I shed a tear when I pushed the 4 1/2 inch hole saw against the Aqualu aluminum. I primed and painted the edges before installing.

Replaced the unsightly and ill-fitting factory release handle for the swing away spare tire carrier with a more simplistic and aesthetically pleasing design. It’s an old shock absorber shaft threaded to fit a shift knob I had laying around.

I waffled back and forth a bunch before I committed. I'm glad now, but it hurt my soul to cut into the tub.
