Not sure if this is the right place for this as its not a tool, but a product. Who has installed some kind of bed liner in their truck and how do you like it? I have always had the plastic drop in ones and love them but am having trouble finding one for my 1997 Chevy 8'.

I have a sprayed in Vortex bed liner in the green Jeep. It is fantastic, and before it became a trail/road/camper tower/etc. it was used as a farm truck here for firewood. Lots and lots of firewood. The liner looks as good as the day I got it. I'd get a spray in liner again hands down, even if it was going in a brand new pickup.

My used Ram came with Rhino Liner. It's very nice, but I'm too cheap to ever have it done. I personally would do the DIY stuff.

I had it sprayed in shortly after I bought the truck new in '03. Still driving it. Ram 3500 diesel dually. We were full time rv'ers doing travelling medical contracts. The liner has held up well to multiple fifth wheel hitch installs. We came off the road and hired on permanent about 8 years ago. Since then it has been a daily driver/do-all/haul-all truck.

Even if I could remember what we paid for it back then inflation would negate anything I told you.

I looked at Rhino and Linex when I did this. Not sure why I picked Linex over Rhino but I would do a Linex again if/when I ever trade this truck off. Not planning to anytime soon though. It is all paid off and still going strong.

It has faded some. It is almost 15 years old though and the truck has never been in a garage. Always outside. The majority of the time has been in the Arizona sun and heat.

Not a fan of plastic bedliners. The ones ive had scuffed the paint off the bed and rusted. If i got another truck id do one of the spray in liners

I like them because they are easil removable back to a stock bare bed. Can't really strip a spray in liner if you ever want to go back

You can strip it but it stinks and is very labor intensive

This is a timely thread for me as I just did a bunch of research on the options for a bed liner. I landed on a bed rug. At first I was skeptical but the reviews on the various truck forums as well as amazon are all outstanding. My main concern was the removal of the paint or clear coat to scuff up the surface for a spray in liner. Sanding on a new trucks paint just didn’t appeal to me.
The bed rug is made out of foam and polypropylene. It doesn’t scratch your bed. Its held in with Velcro.
I just got mine in the mail yesterday and I’ll be putting it in over the weekend. I’ll keep you guys updated. They also make a product called bed tred which mimics a spray in liner.
I found this cheesy infomercial after reading all the good reviews everywhere.

Drop in liners I've seen are slippery to the point of being dangerous. Maybe they've improved.

Me, I use a sheet or two of plywood, fitted around the wheel wells.

I'm seriously thinking of using Herculiner HCL1B8 Brush-on Bed Liner on the Front Floor and Toe Board in my Willys build. The rear floor and the top of the tool box has all been hot rodded and is single flat sheet of 16ga that will be painted Jet Black with 1.375" wide by .375" tall White Oak strips every 2.5" Held down by button head stainless steel screws.

I ended up installing the bed rug today it went well. The fit is good and it appears to be sturdy. I washed the bed and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol. Then I put the bed rug together, you zip the sides and back to the bottom. Next a bunch of Velcro goes on the back side. You have to trim out holes for tie downs etc. I’m pleased.

    I think he's wearing a rug.

Cushions your knees because everyone does their gardening in the bed of their truck.

Joking aside... Looks pretty good. My Rhino Liner still looks brand new despite what he says about spray in liner.

    Keep us posted.

Agreed he’s a salesman and that was some funny stuff on there with the lady gardening in the Pickup. As I said there are a ton of positive reviews so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
