Just got my new toy today. Waiting on the guide fence to show up. I may be getting a bigger bar as well:D
The 16" bar will cut about a 7 or 8" log after the guide is clamped on.
My plan is to make use of some of the pines to put the old barn i took down from my parents place back together.[IMG] [IMG]

I'm jealous of your new toy.

I like my slab furniture, and lately been looking at timber framing.

We will expect test results and pictures of barn progress when it happens. :)

I love mine. I run a 30" bar on a Still ms391. Just made my first piece from a tulip poplar I cut on the property a bit over a year ago, a small stepstool. It definitely gave me a sense of pride to manage every step of the process from tree to furniture :)

Maybe it was a coincidence, but I exploded the bottom-end on a fairly new (and expensive) chainsaw, while ripping timbers.

Im trying to decide what to do. The rail they have, and i ordered, is on backorder. Saw reviews saying get the rail, makes it easier...
Then saw you tube vids with 2x4 ladder style frames.

Any old plank will do - if you shim it to be straight and solid.

I went to get 2x4s. Guy says how long do you want them. I said I was planning on keeping them.

I use a section of ladder... shim it straight enough, and its just as good as the rail. Plus, you can clean out the gutters when you're done making lumber!

Got one log sawed on 2 sides today. Just had a brain fart how to square up the other sides so ill have to get a couple 2x6's 12 foot to finish up. Ill screw 3 2x's together in a U so i can just slip it on top of the log and then just slide the saw along that. Pics to follow at some point...

good work, it's pretty satisfying to see a nice rough cut log after just a few minutes, isn't it? My dad bought a piece of rough cut poplar the other day for something around $40, and I had a few hundred board feet of it already drying in my garage that we had cut last year! All for the price of gas :)
