I'll paint it black. Maybe the OD would be out of place.

Spent a couple of evenings and most of the weekend cleaning up the floorboards. Finaly got them painted. They were nasty and I have been putting it off for years. Discovered they were in really good shape under all the gunk. Discovered a bonus! I never knew there were drains. I'll make sure to keep them cleaned out going forward, might save on future rust.

Getting all the electrical components together so I can install the wiring harness. I bought these Hall 701 taillights in 2004 on eBay. Paid $35 for the pair (mislisted). In my searches these are correct for '57, just need to change the bulbs to 6V, but I am not sure if I am missing something for the left side. Should there be a standoff for the left side so the light can illuminate the license plate? Where can i find one of these?

Floorboards installed along with the pedals. Painted the MC cover OD like the original. I'm starting to run out of parts. Wiring harness, seats, mirrors and windshield are all thats left to restore.

What are you using to paint the black parts like the floor covers?

I like it. Originally I thought the transmission cover was going to be yellow and that's why I was opposed.

And that is a great feeling! Nice work, love the yellow and the detail you have in the re-assembly.

On the floorboards it was Dupli-color ceramic enamel low gloss black engine paint. All the other black parts are Eastwood chassis paint semi-gloss and gloss.

Back to it after an illness hiatus. Accomplishments this weekend: Completed side view mirrors, finalized heater install, cleaned, painted and installed parking brake assembly, installed speedometer cable, installed taillights, put in brake tubing keepers, finished gas line to fuel pump, put grommets in firewall. Tore down the windshield frame to inspect and prepare for restoration. Good news was just dirty and a little surface rust, no dents. Next week I am installing the wiring harness!! Might get to drive it this month as long as my wife doesn't come up with anymore projects. She gives me a dirty look when I tell her I'll start yard projects when I can drive my jeep to the harware store for supplies.

Mid week progress! I was able to get all of the parts for the windshield frame cleaned and painted yesterday. The vacuum wiper still works. Today I stripped the paint off the frame and wet sanded it. Ready to start painting.

Wiring harness is installed!! Started the engine!! Sounds great, but no water so only ran it for 30 seconds. Today I'll fill it with coolant and run it up to temp. I have all electrical functions except turn signals. Could a bad flasher cause this? Need some suggestions to troubleshoot. I have brake lights and parking lights working. Another question is the heater fan motor connection. One red wire comes out of the motor. Fan motor works when jumpered directly to power. Where does it hook up? The Walck's harness worked great, easy to install and follow the directions.

Finished the wiring today. A new flasher solved the turn signal issue. Put on the right side fender and aligned the hood. Started and ran the engine for an hour. Only one small water leak, tightening hose clamp solved. No other apparent leaks otherwise. Took a while to burn the oil out of the exhaust, I had put a tablespoon in each cylinder a couple of times in the last 10 years then turned it over for a bit to keep it from rusting. Painted the windshield frame. It is ready to assemble.

I'm having trouble visualizing the heater hook up. Where does the power come from (acc off ignition switch?) and how does it get through the switch to the heater fan?
