Yes, that's what I had in there. Couldn't think of the part number until you mentioned it and it came back to me. Yeah, when I went to replace it, I saw they had re-classified that E8094 as a diesel fuel pump. I just checked again and now Summit lists it as petrol pump again!?! WTF?

I agree, I could hardly hear that pump when it was running. Well, I'll run it until it dies, hopefully that'll be years from now!

IMG_0054.jpg It was more like what I did with my Jeep during the Summer, but towed the camper everywhere was high on the list.

3" hole sawed the cross member and fitted a 3" Dom tube. Mocked the steering box and drag link. The AA bracket needs some hand fitting yet. The drag link and tie rod are 2" c-c at the knuckle so that's what I setup for at the steering arm. Comments appreciated before I get out the welder. Well I spent about 5 hours sanding and scraping PC-7 epoxy that is almost cured that is being used to smooth the Tunnel and new floor to Tunnel weld line some of it even goes up on to the Toe boards. I still have both toe boards to sand and smooth and the pass side floor. The part I did today is nice enough that a little spot putty and some light sanding will have it ready for Primer. Next I will put the Lower cowl sections and the rear side panels on the Tub.

Then the real body work starts

I took the CJ6 body off the frame, so I can start taking off the old frame strapping, cut off the spring mounts and rear frame support and get it ready for sand blasting. Then I'll re-strap the frame, top and bottom, and add is some frame boxing and spring mounts set up for YJ springs.

Got the bottom straps off, got the bent rear crossmember off, and the mid cross member, I just pulled out (was not attached). Got all the little doodads and hanger thingamabobs off the frame. Need to cut off the spring hangers and it will be ready for sand blasting. should probably make a build thread on this one.

Rich , in response to your PM on this subject...........looks good from my viewpoint ........although , the angle of the input shaft / steering gear box mount should be adjusted up a little when going through the new tubing tunnel so that the coupler inside has enough room for attachment and movement...........I like to build a short spud a few inches long there using a coupler at one end and the standard spline at the other end that connects to a steering U-joint once outside the tunnel.........all of which should be pointed towards the steering column exit at the firewall in a manner that best complements the angles to and from those points.

That is also a long Pittman Arm off the sector shaft.........which will generate more steering motion as compared to the input at the steering wheel..........meaning the steering input to the tires may be fast to react...........that length (Pittman Arm ) should also be compared to the length of the steering knuckle arm from the center pin.........same length equals one to one and so on.......
just pointing out that these parts should be thought out prior to welding the steering gear box mount in until you have settled on the right length Pittman Arm.........and so on based on the above mentioned points.

Keep leaving the camera in the basement, and not really much to yet to document a build with......

The body is really toast. gonna have to replace the entire floor area, and half the rockers, and the whole rear corners.....

But the frame and body were free, so I can't really complain

Looks good Rich. On my CJ the PO did not do that for the steering shaft and just cut out the frame. Someday, I just may have to deal with that.

If you haven't made it permanent yet, I might suggest scooting the box forward just a hair more. You have it about where mine is on my 3B, and there are deep gouges in the tie rod where the pitman arm/tie rod end has made hard contact... and mine has a shackle reversal. Yours will actually swing forward under compression, closing the gap even more.

I know it's hard to visualize, but without radius arms and track bars to positively locate the axle, leaf springs allow a ton of axle movement under abuse.

Changed pan gasket today on the Dauntless. Note to self.. "When you have the engine in the engine stand replace all gaskets, it's gotta be easier."

Barnes 4WD Parts. Highly recommended, really high quality pieces and only 35 bucks for the pair.

IMG_2308.JPG IMG_2309.JPG Had my neighbor sandblast my Dana 30 knuckles, shot them with primer so they don't rust. I think I'll finish painting them, then touch them up after the ball joints are installed if needed. Wish I could have him blast my axles as well.

It's light, only like 1800lbs with stuff on board. Tows well. The Dauntless handles the load ok.
