I’m sorry gents. There is NO PCV valve on this motor. The draft tube was engineered out during WWll. On the pax side is no more than a free flow from the valve cover to the intake manifold. The hose appears to be preformed for the application. The brass elbow is nothing more than just that. A brass elbow. See the link. PCV For the F-134 | Old Jeep Carbs LLC

I'm not sure I'm 100% agreed with that- that's kinda a funny looking fitting just to be a hose barb. I will agree that either way there's some thing not stock about the whole setup.

The point is pretty much moot though- it's easy enough to trace the issue as being related to the the pvc/non-pvc dooey simply by unhooking the hose & capping off that fitting to see if there's a difference in how the engine runs.

"Pvc" hose, for lack of proper nomenclature, was disconected from the top thing on the motor. Still surges. This is not the issue. Motor still sputters at idle

You'll need to block that hose to prevent the possible vacuum leak, just tape over the end, clamp it shut with vicegrips or stick a conveniently sized bolt in it.

Please squeeze the hose and then run it.

No spring. Should just rattle around if you shake it...it basically meters the flow.

Why would the carb come loose? Engine vibration?
