    Hello all,

Question: Has anyone heard of owners mixing body types with fram types?

Still trying to get to know my rig, I am questioning my registered and avatar pic CJ5. The frame is shorter on the back end to the end of the body. It has U shape original shackles/suspension. I cannot find any serial numbers but like I said its registered at a CJ5. I was going to go out and measure the wheel base as I think that will tell me a lot. I think the frame may be a CJ-3B. Another ideas?

Sounds like you may have a flat fender frame with a cj5 tub. I have put a flat fender tub on a cj5 frame so I'm guessing a person could so the opposite. Any pics of the rear?

Not the best but what I had on file from earlier pictures. You can tell from the lic plate as its set way back from the back of the body. Will try to get a side view.

My 55 5 has those cute C/U shaped shackles.....can't remember what year they changed them but they are original to the cj5, and my bumper and body line are pretty well flush.

In order to get my 57 CJ5 frame to fit my 48 Cj2A tub I had to cut about 1.5" off it and move the rear cross member forward. I also had to make special shackle mounts that moved the pivot rear the same distance to allow the use of stock CJ5 Springs.

    Chug A Lug is a 57 Frame and Suspension with a 71 CJ5 rear axle and 48 Dana 25 with Saginaw steering and 11" Wagoneer brakes. With a 48 engine 61+ clutch 48 T-90A tranny and 61+ D-18 transfer case and a modified 48 Tub. With a 49 3A windshield.

I agree, the pics pretty well confirm it.

The only thing to watch for is if new springs are needed at some point, other than that I can't see it making much difference.
