I'm sure it's been asked before, sorry in advance. Anyone have a picture of how the e-brake cable is mounted on the firewall. The bracket I have isn't making sense. It's the Cain type handle.

    Thanks, Cole

Is it the same as a MB? There's a bracket on the firewall. I just pulled mine off because it interfered with the spark plug wires for my 4.3 swap, but I can bolt it back on in the morning and snap some pics for you if needed

I'm not sure if they are, but I would think so. A picture would be much appreciated.
I've been following your build, very nice work. OOrah!

    Thanks, Cole

MB and 3A have different cane handle locations.

This is the bracket on the engine side of the firewall....[IMG]

The cable is attached to the cane handle and runs inside a hard metal articulated housing. (Sorry, I dont have that part anymore) It ran out of the firewall, through the hole just above the bracket and was secured to the bracket using a "pinch" washer - similar to the ones used to hold down cables - attached to the bracket at the point circled. When the handle was pulled, the casing stayed stationary.

Ok, thanks. My cable has a 2 inch hardened piece on the end. I assumed that clamped into bracket. It never seemed right and I went back to work on the million other things that needed to Be done. Probably hardened piece goes into firewall and cable portion claps to bracket. I emailed kaiser willys and asked and they were less than helpful and they sold me cable? You guys are always great, thanks again! image.jpg

I kind of gave up on the E-Brake for a while. I could never get a look at a correct working setup for a CJ3A. I had to pull my transfer case because of a huge leak, so that's been my focus. I'll be back in California where my jeep is in September. I think I will have to fabricate a new bracket to make E-brake work. Sorry I don't have a solution yet. I'll get it working eventually and posts pics.
