Picked up a cool engine today

Not sure this is the right section for this but I think it's cool so had to share. So a good buddy of mine finally sold me an engine I'd been bugging him about for a while. It came out of his Henry
J he bought 8 years ago out of a barn somewhere up north. It's a Kaiser Supersonic flat head 4. I'm not 100% sure on what to do with it yet. I'm thinking it should either go in a flat fender I don't have yet or maybe a cool little run stand/power plant thing. Any tips or advice on rebuilding this bad boy would be welcome. Now on with the pics!!

He's planning on hot tossing that one but it's pretty rough and he said body panels are really expensive.

 

Had just a few min to fool with the motor today. Thing was a pain to get on the stand. Had to have the lower two arms milled out a little so they would slide in enough to line up on the small bolt pattern. Found a rebuilders tag on the block. Explains why it was in decent shape I guess. Looked the company up but don't think they are still in business.

 

Nothing special.
Higher compression than stock Jeep motor.
Flywheel is different (you will find this out if you put the engine in a CJ).

 

and vacuum advance distributor. mine was converted to a boat motor really nice setup kept all the conversion parts, someone spent a good amount making the intake/exhaust.

so whats different on the flywheel? mine looks spot on but now your worrying me.
different bolt pattern?

 

We did an engine swap in 1959.
Bought the motor and put it in with the flywheel.
The flywheel works with the Henry J. bellhousing, but will jamb against the Jeep bellhousing.
Don't know where the difference is.
Probably have the Henry J. flywheel somewhere, but would not bet on it.
Had to pull the motor and use the old Jeep flywheel. Bolt pattern is the same.
This was a 1947 CJ2a, by the way.

 

I vaguely remember now, I couldn't use the CJ2A bell housing on the Supersonic while still using the Henry flywheel and starter, the starter if memory is correct was the problem it interfered with the cj2a bell housing.

thats why I cleaned and painted the Henry J bell housing. whew I have been at this resto for far to long haha.
I can check things if needed.

 

Well I've decided that this engine is going in a rat rod. Won't matter bout the flywheel, me and a friend are going to try out hand at building a bellhousing. I really want to run a 5 speed behind it so I can make use of all that raw unbridled horse power!

 

Cleaned it up a little yesterday. Perfect look for a rat rod.
