I bought the adapter to use my single stick ramsey PTO off the back of my warn overdrive, but I only have about 1.2" from the top of the PTO to the bottom of the floor. Does anyone else have this setup?

    Thanks!

Are you saying you don't have enough room for the PTO shift tower?

You can put some spacer blocks between the tranny cross-member & frame- that will buy you some room but by rights there should be a hole in the floor big enough for the shifer tower to stick up through. Depending on your seat mounts this may be an issue in which case you'll need to make some hard decisions to make about what is going to get changed to make this work.

    p.s.- Welcome :)

I was going to just put a hole in the floor, but then the stick woyld end up so far back that it would be akward to use. I cut the stick off as long as I could and have begun to fab up a linkage. Ill put up pics once I know it works.

    Thanks!

You have to cut the new hole further back in order to use the PTOs unless you fab a new shifter or what I would suggest is look for one with a remote shift capability. They are less desirable and do not always go for the premium prices.

    Here is a good example:

Here is a copy of the install when using a pto in conjunction with the OD Adapter:

Can you post another picture where you have the shifter mounted and would you mind if I include these pics on my PTO website page http://48cj2a.com/PTOs.htm pm me your name and I'll give you credit. If you can take the time to give me a small write up of the problem and solution I will include that as well.

Please feel free to use my pics! I also sent you a PM.

This is my setup for the PTO, overdrive, and the bracket. All scratchbuilt

everything in place. Four shifters is too many to fit comfortably between the Fiero seats, but they dont hit each other and youre not banging knuckles to shift anything

With floorpans installed. Now everything is apart and im finishing the tunnel pan and painting the shifters. Dont laugh at my TIG welds. Those were my first tig welds on aluminum.

If theres anything else you guys would like to see, please feel free to ask.

Nice work on the custom cover as well!

I'll get something together for my site and repost again when done.

    One final detail...

I really dont like the original "boot" that went around the shifter, and when I tore it down to rebuild it, there was evidence of all kinds of crap getting into the PTO unit through the shifter hole. I ended up using a 60-64 Corvair dipstick tube boot as a grommet (part #C95 http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/catalog.cgi?function=goto&catalog=MAIN&section=MAIN&page=232 ) with a little bit of silicone. That otta keep dirt out, but still allow it to vent of it needs to.

    Small update:

After about 1500 miles, I gotta admit the PTO shifter is awesome! Works great the way I set it up! I do regret the length of the OD shifter though. On low idle the stick shakes quite a bit and the throw is a little longer than it could be. That will be easy enough to change. In all, upon use both shifters work very well and it sure feels good to take it out and USE IT!

I have a Ramsey DP-1 which I'd like to use. I initially based my thoughts on the above directions which don't indicate any issues with the location of the leg for the drivers seat. But now it seems to be an issue. I'm not going to cut down the shifters on such a rare PTO to make linkage. Ugh.

Actually you should be able to fab a set of replacement shift actuators, I ended up doing that for my setup (although I have a Rhino PTO).

You'd probably have to drop the tranny x-member down a inch or so for floor clearance but it could be doable.

Nice Howard. A buddy and I were just contemplating this the other day. I'm eventually going be running a Warn OD with a twin stick front/rear pto.

Definitely gonna reference your pics for brainstorming later.
