My 225 Odd Fire V6 has a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner. I've been searching craigslist for something more from the 70's era, can I use just about anything? Most are sealed except for the chute/air intake of course. I even found a Ford V6 oil bath style. Thoughts?

The '71 came from the factory with a paper element in a standard run of the mill housing with a cool Dauntless sticker on it. Unfortunately, it seems that most of them were cast aside, now lost to the world, in favor of aftermarket bling. Earlier, factory Dauntless oil bath units seem a bit more common though, still a bit hard to find sometimes. Anything that fits the diameter of the carb and fits under the hood would work. If you are not going for a stock unit, then whatever suits your eye.

    Thanks Dave.

I guess I was wondering if I would be restricting the 2 Jet carb but sounds like I could make almost anything work. What's weird is a PO at one point or another has plugged certain hoses coming and going from the manifold. I'm sure they were bypassing emissions for HP? I was considering undoing what they've done and going with stock. Unfortunately (as you pointed out) those are almost non existent. I've seen them with the cool stickers, those are nice.

Here is mine, it is the original for a 71. I think they come up for sale occasionally on here and on ebay. It uses a Fram CA-192 paper filter. It originally had a silver flex tube that went down to a heat collector on the passenger side exhaust manifold. It had a vacuum line that controlled a butterfly valve that is built into the intake tube that would force it to draw air off the exhaust manifold when the engine was cold. It also had a molded rubber tube that would pull air out of the drivers side valve cover, where the chrome edelbrock breather vent is installed in this picture.

You can still buy the silver dauntless stickers, I've seen them on ebay and when googling dauntless v6.

I'm in the same boat, been searching but I've given up. I took the old rusted chrome one that was on it when I bought my Jeep, and I scuffed it and painted it black. My wife has a vinyl cutting machine so she will be making me the stickers for it and then I'll shoot clear over it.

I've got a "Silhouette" vinyl cutter. I was thinking the same thing, plus some shift pattern stickers.

We could find stickers on eBay, but why pay when you can create your own for pennies on the dollar using the Silhouette. I purchased one for my wife, so I have rights to make certain "requests."

Good looking option for a period air cleaner. The 2GC was used on many 60's model GM cars and trucks.

This is true, but remember that the there's two different sizes of 2GC carb...some are 2 5/8 throat and some are 3 1/16. The :v6: is the smaller size.
    Measure before you buy!

I found this one...I might not even paint it since my engine bay isn't shiny.

When dropping in my dry air cleaner I noticed the spacer clears the choke cable and linkage.
