Anyone with a TJ or LJ, especially with oversize tires- if you need new brake pads, or just want better braking, I highly recommend Black Magic brake pads. They are pricey, yes, but they are flat out amazing.

Here's my review of them so far on the Wrangler forum..

Here's where to buy them. Blaine knows his stuff when it comes to brakes, and if you have any questions about his stuff he'll be more than helpful.

I am beyond thoroughly amazed at the performance of these pads. The TJ brakes with anything over stock sized tires are marginal IMO, and I'm only running 32" tires. Just thought I'd share..

Hmmm, I might have to get a set of these for my TJ. I drive in the city a lot for school with it and well, you know the stupid stuff people do in front of you.

There's been a lot of behind the scene discussion as well. ;) I'm not done tinkering with the rear brakes, but the fronts are phenomenal :)

What - 30 years of Jeep production later and you *still* gotta be farting around to get decent brakes? ;)

Yep. They're OK with stock tires, but drastically get worse with taller tires.

(sorry, I hit the edit button on your post instead of the reply with quote button.;)

Just bought a 2001 TJ and have to put brakes on it. It has 33/ 12.50s so it sounds like these brakes might be the gouge. My question is,,, I amd contemplating installing a locking hub upgrade kit. Will this make a difference with the rotors and wheels ???
