I've come across an early Mk IV. The vin is 8322 11xxx, which, according to the vin info I found, translates to an August 64 date of manufacture.

It has some of the typical Tuxedo items: Mk IV hood badges, chrome items, etc. But it also has 3 speed on the floor with no evidence of a column shifter, bucket seats, and no evidence of the snaps on the wheelhouses for the wheelhouse cushions.

I know that those parts could have been taken off over the years. But, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any early Mk IV's that did not come with all the items we normally associate with the Tuxedo Park models?

Edit: Opps! I think I just answered some of my own question. I just went back and reread the MK IV info and I see that bucket seats and wheelhouse cushions were options on the MkIV. So, the only thing I'm still wondering about is the transmission. Anyone ever heard of a Mk IV w/ a three speed on the floor?

Well, all the V6 Tux's were floor shift, but the '64 would have been a 4cyl. As far as I know, there were 4cyl. floor shift Tuxedos, but I'm not certain.

I have a 1967 Tuxedo Park with a 4 cylinder that appears to have an original floor shift.

There was a good document for this on our old ecj5.com site. Do any mods know if these are going to be available? It was something like ...particular to tuxedo park... I saved it somewhere and probably have it on backup, but I bet someone else could post it more quickly.

To the best of my knowledge, they did have the column shift. If one was converted, you might not know it. My late husband took all the column shift off mine because it was so worn. He used his DJ floor shift to convert it. To the naked eye, anyone would think that's the way it came.

The 60/40 seats, chrome bumpers, chrome windshield latches and hood hinges were only a few of the tell tale marks. Lots of people took the seats out and put in bucket seats. The column shift and seats, in my opinion, were the first to go.
