Anyone ever do a spring over on a Bantam? Do I need to weld new perches on top of the axle or can I just flip the axle and go? I seem to recall a slight bend in the Bantam axle which may prohibit the easy out. Or is my memory fogged?

i flipped mine when i put 35s on it. cant recall if its bent or not but that shouldnt matter anyway. I hauled a ton of rock in it once while it was upside down and it didnt bend . blew out the tire though and it was loud! haha. but it sat too high even with spring over and 35s on the jeep so i swaped it back and put 33s on it i think. but i also swaped the C shackles for the longer style i think they are from a willys truck i was told

Most trailer axles have built-in camber, so turning the axle over would result in negative camber. They're made to flex, hence the positive camber. I don't know if those trailers were that way or not. Run a string or straight edge down the axle. If it has an upward bow to it, don't turn it over; weld new perches on it.

I rolled one of my 33's up next to the stock height trailer and thought I'd need some crazy long shackles to make them fit. Was worried a S/O would be too much. Fear confirmed. Hmmmmmm. Ideas? I would need something quick and cheap. Show coming up soon. I should go out and measure the springs.

Make some perches and weld them on. The last trailer I converted to spring under was a 25ft. tandem axle camp trailer. Took about 4 hours start to finish.

I thought it was spring under? Blocks would lower it.

first pick is with 35s spring over stock shackles and 2" ball lift.
then 33s with ball lift spring under and long shackles. its close but fits and hasnt rubbed. 31s would fit much better im sure

 Doh! You are correct, sir. Brain stoppage. 2003, how much longer did you make your shackles? The S/O will be way too much.

I didnt make them longer they were built that way. I had a broken one on the jeep so i put up a wtb here on the board and only found the longer ones so i put them on the trailer. From what i recall he said they may have been from a willys pickup but i dunno for sure. Ill try and get a measurement tomorrow but i dont think theyd hold up too long being cut and extended. Those C shakles take alot more stress than the 2 sided ones

How about that shackle length measurement? Center to center of the mounting holes or something. Thanks
